Yay for this line in that email

We are actively reviewing applications at the moment and expect to have decisions finalized by late March to early April.

Late March is much better than I expected!

Also on the subject of Dean's certificates -

I submitted my app a couple of weeks ago and haven't gotten confirmation I've gone complete at this point. I think my Dean's certifications (multiple schools) probably made it in way in advance of my actual app - did anyone else have that happen? I assume they were keeping them on file and will add them to my app now that its in but I wasn't sure...

Yeah, they start a temporary file when they receive your dean's certs.

I wouldn't put *too* much stock in the facebook group as an accurate determinant, for two reasons: not everyone is on facebook, or in the group. Shocker, I know, but I know several people admitted but not in the group.

Second, there are a bunch of deferred students (such as myself), some of whom are in the group, thus inflating the total number of 2010-2011 "admits". Whether or not these two groups cancel each other out numbers-wise is debatable.

That said, based on my past two years watching the group, the deluge is very nearly upon us. It usually goes from <100 to >200 in about a month; indeed, it was <70 until this past week.

So the only item that has ever been lost in the mail in my entire life was my Dean's Cert to Yale.

The USPS is out to sabotage us law school applicants.

I got the email today as well. It was a follow up to the viewbook and invitation to apply that came in the mail a few months back.

The email has convinced me to apply. Here's to late applications!

That's unusual.
I got the complete email the day after my Dean's Cert arrived (fedex).

I have the same problem, I just sent them an email and got an automatic response saying they are unable to respond to each email individually (why do you have an email address at all then?). I hope this doesn't mean I will have to call them again, because last time i got absolute nada info.

If they do answer, I'll let you know on this thread...

It's not unusual for it to take forever to go complete...mine took five and a half weeks, and all the documents (including Dean's Cert) were in before my submission date. I think we just have to be patient, which is of course incredibly difficult in the context of law school applications.

It's just really frustrating when people who submitted after you are complete... all my stuff is in... no emails

In response to your question, check out this blog post by Asha:
http://blogs.law.yale.edu/blogs/admissions/archive/2009/04/27/bad-idea-jeans-don-t-be-a-waitlist-stalker.aspx

I'm under the impression that LOCIs are to be sent in once the applicant has been WL'ed, and even then they are only marginally helpful, if at all. HTH.

So I imagine an unsolicited add'l LOR would fall under this same category or close to it? I remember Asha posting something about her 'autograph collection' but can't seem to find that entry. Then again, can it really hurt? And if you only get one shot, better to take it than 'save it for the WL'.

Yeah, I got advice from career counselor to send an unsolicited LOCI. I'm pretty skeptical. If I had some outstanding new accomplishment, that'd be one thing. But without that I imagine it's not helpful.

Has Asha ever addressed pre-waitlist LOCI's?

Well I got a response today: "At this time of year, it can take at least 4-5 weeks between when an applicant submits their application to us through LSAC and when we actually create an application file for them in our office. We will be back in touch when we process your application letting you know if it is complete or still missing an item. Thank you for your patience."

I guess nothing left to do but sit tight for the inevitable ding. But seriously, how many people can say they at least got rejected by the world's best law school? Only those who paid the application fee, that's who! This is definitely going in my resume once I apply to Cooley!

It's amazing how I wasn't even going to apply to Yale until about 6 weeks ago and now I'm going to be terribly disappointed if I don't get it :?
That packet they sent me with the samples of PS's and 250s and tips on applying really made me do a 180
