package with view-book inviting me to apply. should I consider this any factor really in my decision to apply or are they just trying to improve their numbers?

Just went complete.

Anyone know if Yale handles application updates (grades/recommendations/etc) differently than other schools?

In at SLS + 180 + viewbook invite = apply to YLS :D Why not? Of all places, I think Yale is least concerned about their yield/acceptance rate! I say go for it.

I think they genuinely want diversity -- i'd shoot them an application if I were you!

Here's a link to a blog post by Asha Rangappa that answers many of the questions you have asked in the last page or two. Be sure to read through the comments.

Kind of related to the above, but...when can I expect to go complete? I applied 1/10. I know the email says it takes up to four weeks, but I feel like if I wait until the four weeks is up to contact them, and something is indeed missing, then I don't have much time left before the deadline to fix it. Does it usually take the full four weeks?

If they stick to last year's timeline, ding mails are already out

Many people reported 2/1 dings which is tomorrow last year.

It takes about 4 weeks, if your deans certs are not holding up your file. Give it another week or so then email to ask.

Hi Yalies...

For Questions 4 and 5, it asks us to "list" things like the academic honors received. But it also asks us to "list" other activities and employment. For these, do we explain in paragraph form or just list the place of employment and activities?

Thank you for your help.

Hi all - if I submitted in mid-December and still haven't gotten a complete e-mail, do you think I should contact the admissions office? I think my Dean's Certification might have not been placed with my file because it got sent ahead of my application.

I listed them in the same way I would on a resume/CV, because I thought it was a little easier on the eye. But if you have a preference for paragraph form, I think you can go either way.

Not necessarily. Could be a typo or just the general lack of motivation for accuracy.

However, the 161/2.98 URM admit does seem like a possible flame even for a URM.

Oh yeah, the 161/2.98 person is almost certainly a flame.

Definitely leaning towards doing a Yale app now. I feel like I should at least give it a try...or give Dean Asha a laugh.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
