Do you know what that means? Yale is telling you that you were so, so, so close of gaining acceptance but you had to go screw it by doing/not doing who knows what. You're being waitlisted at the top law school in the WORLD...feel that pressure in your shoulders, go ahead.
I'm pretty okay with it actually. :D

Yeah, just realized how lonely my little yellow dot is... Oops.
I know you're ok with it it might be your lack of energy/enthusiasm that got you waitlisted in the first place.
You my friend, are a dickhead.

Pretty sure she/he is a troll who definitely didn't apply to Yale (judging by the other threads he/she is posting in). Ignore it and it will go away. I personally think it's amazing that you got waitlisted, and also amazing that you're maintaining a positive attitude (you should, with your other great options).

Not to put a damp on anybody else's remaining miniscule hopes, but looks like they are done with the admits, now they are sending the WLs, or may be even done with those, and in the weekend, all rejects will go out. This is what it looks like, ordering of sorts. Although, I have to admit, even as I'm writing this, a tiny bit of hope is still alive in me...

got to wonder... if those of us who are receiving the first round of WL emails were the ones who just barely missed the cut? pointless speculation, to be sure.. in any case, only about 1/5 of those admitted to Yale are straight out of college. so those of us who are were really competing for 1 of about 50 spots...pretty tight competition! to come close enough to be waitlisted is still pretty impressive

Unfortunately, I believe that Yale's yield is about 80%.

Fortunately for those on Yale's waitlist (which so far doesn't include me), there are quite a few deferrals every year, which I imagine offsets the high yield.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but in the wait list email they say that they admit on average 5 people a year off the wait list "from a pool of less than 100 files." So it does not appear that the chances are very good.

From the WL email:

"In the recent past we have admitted an average of five people from the waitlist per year, with the actual number of offers ranging from zero to twenty from a pool of less than 100 files."

Doesn't sound too promising to me.... 5% of the WLs are admitted.... whereas 8% of all applicants are...-

WL here as well! So are we seriously in a pool of less than 100? Either way, I'm probably withdrawing in 2 weeks for HLS deferral deposit!

Judging from past years, the vast majority of waitlists are notified on the same day. And I wouldn't ready anything into the day's timestamps.

I may have miscounted, but it looks like 38 people reported WLs for both the 08-09 and 09-10 cycles on LSN. In both cases 3 later reported an acceptance. So maybe a little better than 5% for the demographic that reports on LSN.

out of curiosity, how many of you who just got waitlisted are already in at harvard or stanford? (i'm not)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
