Iowa sent out a fee waiver to 164 or 3.8 students today

Re: IOWA 2011
In review as of today. I know that this has been asked a million times, but does anyone have an up-to-date (i.e.: post holiday break) estimate of how long a decision might take? Also, Iowa is a bit of a number s stretch for me (ok, more than a bit - 3.33, 159), but I hold two grad degrees in the humanities, including one from Iowa and am an Iowa resident. No URM. Anyone care to speculate on my chances (preferably with some empirical evidence)? LSP is grim but doesn’t take into account resident status. Iowa is far and away my first choice school.

Could you elaborate? They offered it to you or they announced that they were free to anyone who meets the criteria?Sandro777 wrote:Iowa sent out a fee waiver to 164 or 3.8 students today

For what it's worth, I had not read that email in it's entirety, and assumed it was just "here's your fee waiver." When I went to submit at the end of November, I realized otherwise, sent them an email with my info, and they got back to me the same day with a fee waiver code.Sandro777 wrote:email. the form they ask us to send in says either a 164 or a 3.8.jayman6 wrote:Could you elaborate? Yeah, I submitted my request yesterday and got an affirmative response w/ a code within 90 minutes. Pretty on the ball with that.JenDarby wrote:For what it's worth, I had not read that email in it's entirety, and assumed it was just "here's your fee waiver." Rise and shine, and check your status checkers! Just got in! Applied 12/15, received 12/17, complete 1/6, and accepted 1/6.
From status checker:
"Congratulations! You have been admitted to the 2011 entering class. You will be receiving additional information shortly.
All applicants are automatically considered for available scholarships and are notified via postal mail."

I'm sure you'll get in. PCV is impressive and the URM status as well as Iowa residency looks very good. When did you apply?bbermud wrote:Chances at Iowa??

I wish I'd hear about my admission decision already. Iowa and Penn State are the remaining contenders for the last to decide in my cycle.chrisbru wrote:I wish we'd hear about scholarships already...

I've got Iowa, but am still waiting for Minnesota, Colorado, Kansas, and Denver. I'd be content if I got Minnesota and Colorado's decisions next week...

I don't think anyone is really sure. Admissions has indicated that it would be late Jan/early Feb, but not in specific terms. Please correct me if I'm wrong. A few have gotten decisions, but not many.

The status checker says "All applicants are automatically considered for available scholarships and are notified via postal mail."
Am I making this up, or did it used to also say "within two weeks" somewhere in that sentence?

Re: IOWA 2011
Hi everyone! I just sent my app to Iowa yesterday.
International applicant, 3.6 and 163/162, what are my chances of getting in/$$?
Really like their international law program!
