Thanks. She's amazing. Atlanta has some great animal rescue organizations and Emory has one of the few animal rights law classes.

Will Emory negotiate? Any students know anyone who raised their merit award? I also got 20K p/y from Minnesota today so I would love it if Emory could match their offer.

I mentioned this a dozen pages back or so, but last year I got 81k from WUSTL, 105 from W&L, and 72 at Emory, and they wouldn't nudge. From the sound of it they were not nudging for anyone on TLS, or that I know in person. I can't say for sure they didn't up anybody's scholarship, but I think it's likely they stick to their "no negotiation" policy pretty seriously.

From the data this year I am seeing people with 167/3.5 and 167/3.3 getting only 45K per year. Is it each and every applicant? No. IS there a distinguishable pattern? Absolutely. Are they offering less this year? Yes, they are, or at least early signs point to yes.

This is all I am saying.

If that is all you were saying, there wouldn't really be a conversation. But you said Emory is offering less money, and that it is a fact, not "early signs point to yes." I'm telling 1) you there's no way you can possibly know that with the information you've got, and 2) My experience tells me that LSN tells an incomplete and inaccurate story, at least in Emory's case.

All good. Like I said, Emory is my top choice. However, business is business and Emory's scholarship seemed lacking. Do you have any idea if they do negotiate or not? To rephrase my comments, LSN/TLS numbers point to a downward trend of $$$ this year. Let's just leave it at that.

Emory does not negotiate.

Also, you seem to be crying about scholarship awards a lot. You have no basis for your assumption that Emory is giving out less money this year. They could possibly be trying to spread their money to more students. This wave of acceptances, as stated several times before, is only a portion of the total acceptances. Larger awards higher awards may be coming later to the other 60% of their admits.

Also, LSN is not necessarily indicative of what Emory does with money. I had a very nice scholarship last year with 167/3.5x and I'm not on LSN.

Like I just stated. This is business, and considering all of the shit surrounding Emory and the late decisions I am a bit weary to attend. I love the school but yes, I am "crying" over the lower amounts. Just to reiterate, again, I know that LSN is not the holy grail of admissions. It does provide the best indicator we have and for that reason I will look at the data and interpret what I can. Jesus.

Am I missing something here? Seems like the guy was just making an observation, maybe prematurely, but everybody on here whines about scholarship money unless they're the lucky few whose parents are bankrolling the thing...

Congrats. I have stirred the pot so let me just close out my bitching. I would love to attend Emory and I think it is a grade A school. However, data I have seen seems to show money amounts are a bit down this year. Still to early to tell but a trend seems to be developing. With that being said, I am grateful for my scholarship and am damn proud to have been accepted to Emory. Hopefully I can get my acceptance to look good financially so I can attend.

Congrats to all that are in and well done on the scholarships (whatever the amount)

Was it sent to your perm or temp address (or are they the same)?

Oh happy day - mailbox stuff with Emory acceptance packet, 20k/year scholarship, and handwritten note from Dean R....

Visiting Washington & Lee this weekend... think they'll be offended that I brought my Emory acceptance packet with me to read on the drive up?

Congrats to everyone else admitted!

Congrats to everyone!

Quick note: "contingent on good standing" isn't a grade requirement. Basically, good standing means 1) don't violate the honor code, and 2) pass. If you pass, you're good. And if you try at all, you pass.
