I got an invite to an admitted students reception in my city. Think it'd be awkward to go if I've been WL'd.

I can see how that would be awkward.. But I've been wanting to visit the school in case I (miraculously) get off the WL and don't have much time to decide, and this seems like the perfect opportunity for that.

I would say that if you received the email, then you're welcome to come. It's not really as though they can keep you from attending, and I'm sure that a lot of the people there will choose to go elsewhere in the fall anyway.

To those that are on the waitlist: are you sending a LOCI/updated resume etc., and when do you anticipate on sending?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Im going to draft a LOCI this week. I assume they will start pulling people soon after the 15th deadline so I want to be sure it is in well before that.

good luck

Emory's ASW is this week! I'm pretty ecstatic. I'll probably take some pictures and upload them if I can. Good luck to all of you on the WL. I know, it's like purgatory. Keep you heads up and definitely write LOCIs....it can't hurt.

I'm just curious, and I mean no offense, but given the recent developments, poor employment prospects, drop in rankings, and bad publicity at Emory -- for what reasons do you all still want to attend?

Take Marta to the Lindbergh Station and cab it from there. Probably be like a $15 cab ride and $2.50 to get on the train.

Because Cooley was too tough to get into.

Anyone inform Emory that you're waitlisted somewhere else that you'd rather go on your deposit?

Or if you're strapped for cash, take the #6 bus from Lindbergh. It stops right outside the law school. That'll be another $2 each way.

I see that the rankings have dropped - but can you tell me more about the bad publicity you are referring to and the poor employment prospects? Is the latter something specific to Emory?

Edit: I did some homework and read about the career services thing - definitely something which needs to be brought up at admitted students weekend eh.

Definitely. Questions about career services in general and Emory's plan to improve their relationship with small and mid-sized firms with biglaw hiring down, should be on the tip of everyone's tongue this weekend.
