I got that email. Honestly, I like knowing that I will have my Emory decision in hand before any of my deposits are due. I wish I could say the same about other schools I applied to in October.

I got that email today too. I guess the bad news is that means I shouldn't be expecting a nice pretty snail mail letter any time soon, but the good news is I haven't been rejected/WL...

I didn't interpret the e-mail as bad news. It seems very possible for you to get a snail mail letter in the next couple of days. The e-mail seems to be very generic and not sent to a specific group of people.

I didn't get one either...and I had an addition LOR hand delivered (and acknowledged by admissions) there a week ago.

maybe that means that when they were getting ready to send out the emails, you were no longer in review… sayyyy your decision is in the mail…?

This may be a dumb question, but what does the 02L after the dean's name mean ? Just a curiosity.
Thanks.

I always assumed it meant he's a second year law student and the dean (must have an impressive resume)

There is no JD after his name like for everyone else, so I guess he is just a 2L.

In his frat house email, it says:
Many moons ago (when we had AOL dial-up access and card catalogues in the Law Library), I did this job during law school at Emory.
So I assume he did go to law school there (and not recently). Not sure why it doesn't say JD after his name but he definitely isn't a current 2L.

the 02L after Dean Ethan's name refers to the year he graduated from the law school (he was actually a Woodruff Fellow also).

I don't know if it's completely unique to Emory, but you'll see numbers and letters like that after all alumni here, depending on what schools they were part of within the university. For example, "02L" means law school graduate, 2002. "08H" means received an honorary degree in 2008. "00B" is a 2000 b-school graduate.

I am a 171/3.5 applicant and I still haven't received a responses yet. Do you think i should be worried at all. I just got the email saying that they are currently reviewing my application.

ha, as to the stacks... it's spring break right now, so i've done my best to stay out of that building. but i know there are still acceptances en route.

to the 171/3.5: did you explain in your p.s./app why emory is a good choice for you? are you from georgia/the south? did you visit? stuff like that would help me to make a call on whether you should "worry" yet. but you've got a great lsat. as situations go, i wouldn't say yours is one of the more worrisome.

I'm really getting frustrated with their notification process. I'm out of the country, no email updates, no snail mail. And since I'm currently in a developing country, I have no idea how long mail will take to get here. I don't understand WHY Emory can't just scan my decision into a computer and email it to me, or just write me an email saying, "Hello, your decision is _____. We thought you'd like to know quickly. Regards, Emory." I mean, I would have so appreciated that.

I have to choose a deposit to put down in April while I ride wait lists, and if I get Emory's decision in April then there will just be no point.

1. Have anyone of you tried to call the Emory Admission Office(404-727-6801) lately? I tried to phone them more than a dozen times (during their business hours on different days). Somehow the line was always always always busy!!!!
What is going on????
2. Emory's decision notification process is definitely frustrating: it is not too hard for me to envision a senario like this for Peg:
Emory has reached a decision a while ago but the packet got lost en route (for USPS international 1st class mail, it is not rare at all). But because their nothing-except-mail notification process, someone who is in Peg's situation will never know their decision (Remember, Emory does not discuss their decision with applicants via phone or email!!!)
Then, how can Peg find out if she has been admitted????

I say this because I really think they can do much better! If Emory's ranking goes down this year (which I don't want to see), I surely know its reason.

I wonder if the "update" email should really be read as a heads up that we are the next "batch" of decisions... what struck me about the email (other than being irritated that it wasn't a decision) was that the point seemed to be, "quit sending us new information, it's too late to have the new material considered."

Just a thought... but, I'm waiting by my mailbox.

Still haven't heard anything about my app. I have a hunch I could have been accepted and just not know it because the post office is retarded and RTS's all of my law school acceptances since I moved (and provided forwarding info)

Just got in this morning with 81k, letter arrived to my mailing address in Indiana postmarked 3/7. Non-URM; PM me for numbers (they're nothing out of the ordinary for Emory).
