Minnesota 2011
Hey guys,
I noticed no thread for this school up yet. Anyone applying?
I am applying this cycle. I definitely love this school and this city (best city to live in, in America!).
Good luck!

Nice! How did you get one? Was it a hidden one? I'm hoping that I have many hidden fee waivers... *crosses fingers*

I applied! I've heard great things about the Twin Cities.

Schools often give "hidden" fee waivers. When you apply through LSAC, getting ready to pay, you suddenly find that your application is free. Hidden fee waivers FTW!SHANbangs wrote:i'm not sure what you mean by hidden. I just received an e-mail in July.

For the question about traffic violations did you go in-depth on the explanation or just the date and the fine/punishment? It says narrative statement, but it seems kind of ridiculous to write a paragraph about a speeding/parking ticket.Entchen wrote:I applied! I've heard great things about the Twin Cities.

I am assuming this is directed at the thread in general and not just me, but I have no traffic violations, so I'm afraid I can't help you out on this one.mfeller2 wrote:For the question about traffic violations did you go in-depth on the explanation or just the date and the fine/punishment? Depending on the strength of my October LSAT, I may be applying ED here. If my score is strong, I won't. But if it's not, then I will. So I am hoping I won't have to apply ED lol.

I went to a campus tour / prospective student day on Monday and the admissions councilor answered this question. He said for minor things (he specifically mentioned a speeding ticket), you'll want to be really brief. He said you may want to put something to the effect of: "In June 2004 I got a speeding ticket in Wisconsin. I promptly paid my fine and have taken care of the issue." He mentioned that if you've got more serious offenses, you'll want to use the "narrative" to explain the circumstances and then also (depending on the offense) you'll want to explain how you've learned from it bla bla.
Hope this helps!

UMN is usually pretty quick with getting responses out for their "first batch." I remember last year some people I worked with who applied in October got notification late October/ early November.
The admissions guy at UMN said during the prospective student tour on Monday that they're behind this year with applications and haven't started reviewing any applications. He said that's good for people who haven't submitted yet, because it gives them more time to be in their first round of reviews/decisions.
I would think that if you're competitive and you've already submitted that you'll hear back in much less than 10-12 weeks.

Yep, I applied in early October and received my decision about ten weeks later.
Good luck everyone. Let me know if you have any questions about the app process for Minnesota.
