I'm pretty sure that the maximum amount of subsidized loans you can get is fixed (and pretty small) and they max you out on that before they give you unsubsidized. At least that's how it worked for me in undergrad.

Edit: just checked the stafford loan website. The max subsidized amount Per year for a grad student is 8500.

Sweet, thanks a lot for looking that up. I'm pretty close to the max, so I guess I should just take it and be happy haha.

If I've been "under review" since 2/2, does that bode a likely WL? FWIW, my numbers are pretty borderline (3.82/164)... :(

Agora Update: I was accepted in late January I believe... but didn't receive my merit award until March. I submitted my need-based stuff a week or so ago. Agora doesn't list either for me.

Under the Financial Aid tab, Agora directs me to a financial aid app site thingy that I have no idea how to log in to. Should I just ignore this?

Financial aid awards are at BC are rolling. From what I understand, they are given out based on who completes their need access/fafsa first. They do this because they have a limited amount of funds for scholarships and aid. If you only submitted a week ago, that's probably why you haven't heard.

The ID for this site is your Eagle ID Number and the password is the new password you created to log into Agora. Hope that helps.

So, this is what my Agora portal looks like. As you can see, there's only a link for fin-aid.

Do all of you w/ merit aid have a special link somewhere that contains merit aid info?

There were some issues with my FAFSA/NeedAccess applications, so I wasn't offered anything yesterday aside from loans. I sent them an e-mail yesterday telling them how much I want to go to their school but need at least some financial assistance to afford it, and they just posted 12k/yr on Agora!

I was told by many people that I had no chance or a slim chance, so I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet!

I have a 2.5, lulz. I think this whole thread would go into a panic if I got accepted.

Still, my numbers weren't the hottest, but my softs were amazing (in my opinion at least). Plenty of schools that I thought I would have been outright dinged at WLed me, when more people than I can remember received a straight reject.

Yeah, it would be a miracle though. BU/BC were shots in the dark. Congratulations on the acceptance. are you definitely headed to BC now?

Well I have a few schools to hear from still (but Boston and its surrounding=my ideal setting), so it is quite likely. I need to see what type of aid they will be offering, since I have already incurred graduate school debt!

Hi guys,

I got accepted a month ago, are we supposed to have Agora account by now?

I got the e-mail saying that they would be sending ID and PW shortly, but it seems that people on this thread have Agora account.

Are people still waiting for the e-mail containing ID and PW??
