It looks like the financial aid section on Agora is open now

Does anyone have scholarship awards listed?

I do not (3.6/170). Does anybody know if this means that I didn't get any or if they haven't released it/I'm not looking in the right spot? I'd really like to know before I visit on Friday!

If I havent received info on merit based aid and I was accepted back in January, is it pretty safe to say I won't be getting any?
Apparently the info on Agora is only for need based aid, according to the financial aid office, because admissions handles merit based aid.

I think I remember that it said we'd be notified in March in the admissions packet (I could be mixing it up with another school though). I think I'll email today to ask. I was under the apparently mistaken impression that it would be listed on agora.

Trying emailing admissions. Some people in this thread have done that and gotten back emails telling them what their merit aid is. I sent them an email and they gave me an email basically saying "it's an on going process and we'll update you by the first seat deposit (April 15th)," which I basically took as "we're not giving you any merit aid at this point."

I didn't email them as I was under the impression that the merit based aid would be posted on Agora today...is this wrong?

FWIW, my merit aid is listed in Agora (I'm one of the ones that emailed to negotiate and was eventually given a scholly offer letter via email).

hmm... I just emailed them. No scholly will definitely make me a bit grumpy about trekking up to Boston this weekend. It seems like there aren't too many listed on LSN so maybe they've only released a few? BC! You're confusing us!

My Agora didn't have any award listed yet, so I called and they said that because I was a recent admit (last Thursday), I'll still have to wait a couple days. Although she said that would be a need-based estimate; I don't have any word on merit yet...

Well, she told me that the admissions people continue to evaluate admits for $$ and that Agora may eventually get updated with merit aid. She couldn't tell me anything specific other than to wait. I wish I could take some kind of action but sadly, my cycle is developing slowly and I don't have anything to negotiate with them yet :(

So if we got a merit-based award, it would be listed in Agora? So I got nothing?

2011 - 2012 Award 1 Summer 2011 Fall Spring Summer 2012 Total
Fed Direct Loan - Sub
0 4,250 4,250 0 $8,500

Fed Direct Loan - Unsub

I called the school; they said some students may have need-based numbers already posted, but not all students. Apparently Agora is updated daily, so we have to keep checking (another status checker!) But the woman on the phone also said that merit-based aid is a completely separate process and students are notified separately about merit-based aid.

So I got more unsubsidized than subsidized. Does anyone know if schools will negotiate this? Obviously, being that you can defer interest, subsidized is preferable.

I'm pretty sure that the maximum amount of subsidized loans you can get is fixed (and pretty small) and they max you out on that before they give you unsubsidized. At least that's how it worked for me in undergrad.

Edit: just checked the stafford loan website. The max subsidized amount Per year for a grad student is 8500.

Krad, how long did it take for BC to make you an offer (after your initial e-mail)?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
