Chicago Kent - Prospective Class of 2014
I applied a few weeks back and am already "in review." Though, I got the "in review" email at the same time I got the status checker email. Is this an automatic thing that you supposedly go in review as soon as your app is received? Anyone in the same boat?

Applied (10/1) and currently "in review." Have you received an email saying that it would take them 2-8 weeks to make a decision? If not, that should be the next step.

Any of you guys worried about job prospects from this school? The chicago market I heard was down significantly. Are you all planning to go sticker?

I applied 10/01 too. I only took the LSAT for the first time in October, though, so I know I've got a wait ahead of me. My application is still "missing some documents."
Also I applied to the PT-Evening program, so I am the prospective class of 2014!

Seconded. When I ask folks I know working in the Chicago legal market currently one common word seems to pop up, "oversatuated." Pretty scary. I was surprised to learn that Chicago-Kent actually only recently broke into T2. I don't know how much of an issue this is.LSAT Taker wrote:I too am curious about this.policestate1234 wrote:Any of you guys worried about job prospects from this school? I think it was 2003ish. There is a link in this post to a spreadsheet of law school rankings for 8ish years that is a good comparison. http://mylawschooldreams.wordpress.com/ ... -rankings/LSAT Taker wrote:Didn't know about that. Nothing to worry about... it looks like the first few years they only ranked the top 50ish.angiej wrote:LSAT Taker wrote:I think it was 2003ish. I really liked speaking with Jason from Kent at the LSAC Forum last year. I think they run a tight program there. The trouble is, there's a lot of competition in that area, not just from the Chicago schools but Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan, UIUC, etc. The advantage that Kent Law students have, though, is the proximity to Chicago year-round and corresponding opportunities to network.

I don't get on here much anymore because I'm so damn busy, but I'm currently a 1L at Chicago-Kent, and I absolutely love the school and the students here. I can't say much about the job market or much of anything else really except for the academics. All in all, I love it here.policestate1234 wrote:Any of you guys worried about job prospects from this school? The chicago market I heard was down significantly. Are you all planning to go sticker?

Thanks for chimming in! I wonder if while I'm anxiously awaiting to hear back, if you wouldn't mind answering some questions about your experience as a 1L at Chicago-Kent.as stars burn wrote:I don't get on here much anymore because I'm so damn busy, but I'm currently a 1L at Chicago-Kent, and I absolutely love the school and the students here. 1. How cut-throat is the environment? Are students friendly? Better yet, what is the friendly student to gunner student ratio?
2. How accessible are the professors? Are there posted office hours that one can easily sign up for and attend? Do the profs stick around a few minutes after class to help answer questions?
3. Are you originally from the Chicago area? If you aren't, how have you adjusted to commuting via train, getting around in the City, etc.
Thanks!

FWIW, I think your numbers should get you in with $, assuming that you have an impressive PS and LORs.uwgbluedevil wrote:if you dont mind telling me, what are your numbers for the people who have applied.
