Good, this bodes well for 3/15 applicants. Wash U will not turn away a 169 LSAT.

This. Wash U seems like one of the most splitter friendly schools out there. They'll eat up a good LSAT. Delicious.

If they do unitary batches, this bodes well indeed. I'm just shy of their 168 desired median apparently. Should've skipped a grade...

I have to believe we are at the point in the cycle where decisions are not so unitary. Now, with that said, I am a Wash U novice, I haven't been keeping up with this thread because my numbers just scream GTFO. That said, now that my hopes are totally up, I'd be freakin' flabbergasted (the word is called for on this occasion), if I got in.

I feel like 167 splitters will be mostly waitlisted, with pulls off of it depending on how many 168s commit. It doesnt seem like a push for 168 would have them in a position where they need to worry about getting 167s so their median doesnt fall to 166 .... but who knows. Apps are down so it could filter out some weird way, witness UMN giving anyone with a median LSAT score half tuition.

Just a warning but last year they wait listed a 176 and a 171 who had 2.6s but they did let in a 173 with a 2.4 so I wouldn't be certain that a 169 will get you in with a 2.2. They do love the LSATs though so here's hoping.

Yeah, UMN's offer seemed almost entirely correlated with LSAT. I got 25k/yr, someone with a GPA almost .5 lower still got 20K. 167-169 seems to get you in there. I don't know about here anymore...

i was a mess hehe and it wasn't beer, but that was 10 years ago ... totally ready to try my hand at law school!

so ... it seems that the consensus is that a 169 is my ticket in, but anybody have any thoughts on my chances of getting a scholarship? cause i can't see myself turning down 20K from minn. to pay sticker at WUSTL

IUb - anyone 166 or over gets 120/105k
Emory - 166 with a 3.0 = almost auto admit
UGA - seems to admit anyone with a 166 regardless of GPA

I've always been interested in how different schools come up with their formulas for admissions. Have to remember each year the medians dont carry over - WUSTL is giving 168s tons of love - but will enough of them commit to make it the median ? Who knows....

I remember last year a 165 seemed the golden ticket for UGA, yet their median stayed at 164.

I'm a 2.5/170 and I got 20k/year. this happened pretty quickly for me, so I'm not sure what your chances are. it's certainly possible though.

Just my musings. Seems as if there is less need for 167s to keep median if 168 is their goal.

that's good to hear. they are taking their sweet @ss time making up their minds ... i feel like they were about to accept me, but decided to put my app to the side until they calculate what a 2.2 will do to their 25th-75th score ...

i will be forever grateful to UMN for accepting me off the bat and saving me months of agonizing over my future since i got rejected from most of the schools i applied to.

sux to be a splitter and the lesson to future law students is to get good grades in the easiest possible major!

Nah, it makes a lot of sense. The biggest factor will be how many 168+ withdraw before the deposit deadline for WUSTL.

If they have enough withdrawals and don't feel they'll be able to hit their 168 median, they'll most likely admit more 167s in order to keep the median from dropping.

Heck if it seems like theres no danger of dropping below 167 they might just shut out splitters below 168 completely in order to get high gpa people ? That would the the correct response if youre trying to game rankings as much as possible. Just depends on how big their 167 cushion is.

Considering how many sub-3 GPAs they've admitted that are 168+, I'm not sure their median GPA is something they are too concerned with. But that could be the case in order to offset what they've done already.

I guess we'll see what happens.

Oh can I play too?

What about a 2.4/164/URM/Non-trad with a 4.0 over the last 39 credits of college work. Poor work was done prior to 2002.

I don't think I have a shot in hell. What say you?

I almost want to say waitlist for both of you because of the median GPA (3.7) and the URM. you might be valuable if they desperately need to fill in some holes. I honestly don't see an outright acceptance though, and rejections wouldn't be surprising in the least.

I wouldn't totally give up. They let in a 2.8 159 AA male last year so it could be possible. But I also wouldn't expect an acceptance.

I agree, really not holding my breath. This was my Hail Mary of the cycle. We shall see. Obviously I'd attend if admitted.

Having visited washu and spoken with both the director of admissions and the associate dean of admissions, I truly believe that this is a school that looks beyond the numbers to a certain degree. Yes, they need to manipulate their numbers such that their USNews ranking remains high, but I'm confident that they don't just toss apps in the waitlist/reject pile without even looking at them. When they find an app that doesn't completely screw their numbers (i.e. apps that aren't below both medians), I legitimately believe that there is thought put into the merits behind the application.

As such, I sort of take issue with the statements of impending categorical rejection or waitlist... it just seems ill informed.

Edit: I recognize that those accepted thus far probably fit the mold of "numbers we need", but i believe that is why the process to fill the final seats is taking so long. They're legitimately reviewing the applicants.

Well when I mentioned it, with regard to my own personal circumstance, its because I'm aware that I do completely screw up their numbers. Let's be honest, besides being totally awesome, I just offer diversity. That's a worthy thing to offer, but I'm not sure it will make up for my numerical shortcomings. Quite frankly, I don't expect it to, and I'm okay with that.
