Also got the $84K SIL award. Unfortunately that's enough to be tempting but not enough to be persuasive. It still means paying $100K+ to go to a very good, but by all indications pretty regional school. Hmm...

This sounds nice but seems overly optimistic. There's going to be a pretty big backlog of unemployed JDs by the time the hiring slump ends. Those cats will've been on the market for 2-3 years and I'm betting they'd stab their own grandmothers for a shot at whatever biglaw jobs open up.

60k - 3.0/168 Pretty suprised. Based on LSN, I was expecting about half that. Maybe they've got a larger scholarship budget this year.

$114,000. Got the email this morning. That's impressive and WUSTL is now the highest ranked option that I wouldn't have to take out a full blown mortgage to attend.

120k scholly email yesterday. Still waiting to hear from more schools, but quite pumped over this one.
I went to UG at WUSTL and talked to law professors and students/alums there, so feel free to ask away about the law school and STL...

75k via email that came through this morning! Given my 3.0x GPA, I'm very happy with this award. Congrats to all you ballers who got 100k+.

Did anyone here apply for Webster Society?

Biglaw firms like "fresh" graduates (ones they have tested with as SAs mostly). Also a lot of people will have settled with mid or small firms that would have been biglaw bound.

Unforunately, just based on what I have heard from the lawyers I know, those people are probably just out of luck. For the class of 2014 however the jury is still out.

Also, got the SIL offer this week. I thought I might get a good offer, but actually getting it is making me much more excited than I thought it would. Moving towards the top of my list.

The scholarships seem to be based on which median/both medians you help.

Above LSAT median you get 84 or 90 if your GPA is also decent.

Above both medians then you get 100+

I think that people that are one point above both and also the splinters greatly benefit. Those with really high LSATs and solid GPAs dont make out quite as well, although still well (WUSTL seems to have plenty of money :) ). For example, 169 3.7 seems to do better than 174, 3.6. Maybe....

I'm totally wigging out seeing all this money flying around and I'm still at "App Received 1/22". I'm pretty certain I'll get in and hope for some $ (169 LSAT), but this wait confuses me.

Also, I applied and waited about a week and heard nothing. After calling the admissions office, they sent me a status checker link, but it's been stuck at the date they sent me a link.

Advice?

What're the odds they'd give me a travel stipend to go from chicago to St. Louis? I'd prefer to save the $140.

What is WUSTL LSAT Median? 166? their 25-75 is 161-168.

These are the procedures according to an email I got when I asked prior to visiting:

Only visits to the law school made during regular law school office hours qualify for reimbursement. Reimbursements are applicable only if you are traveling from over 100 miles to visit Washington U Law. Reimbursable expenses may include: airfare, 1 night hotel stay, gas (if you are driving to visit us), and for car rental expenses. Meals or other sundries or any travel fees for visitors joining you on the trip are not reimbursable.

FWIW, I went to the first ASW and it entirely changed my impression of WUSTL. The place is amazing and it has set the standard for other visits I have been on. If anyone is even considering attending I definitely recommend it, you won't regret it.

Yah they responded and re-sent an email I already had where they said I had a stipend for that travel distance. Silly me.

Clearly they're gunning for 168. It's only a matter of time before they overtake more of the schools in front now... too much money.

I'm visiting St. Louis and WUSTL over the next couple of days. Can anyone give me an idea of how walkable the surrounding area is? What neighborhoods I should see/avoid? I'm trying to get a feel for what being a student/living in the area is like.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Check out the Loop (Delmar, just north of campus) and Central West End. These are probably the two most popular areas to hang out as a law student, and it is where a lot of students live. It'll give you a good idea of what your typical "scene" would be if you went here. If you have time to check out other areas, try Washington Avenue near the downtown area and downtown Clayton (about 5 minutes west of campus).

For those of you who haven't seen this, here is a map and my take on some of the best neighborhoods to live in. Might come in handy for anyone visiting in the next few weeks:

If anyone wants some specific bar, restaurant, etc. recommendations, let me know and I can type something up later today in the Taking Questions thread (I don't want to clutter up your 0L thread).
