Yeah, he was the kid who burned all the other smart kids macaroni pictures...
I think you are right. Unfortunately, for me. It makes sense though. The whole "financial need" is a lot easier to pitch if you are paying sticker price as opposed to if you already have a 1/2 Tuition+ scholarship... We will see though.iambeautiful wrote:I think they are gonna lean more towards giving it to people without scholarships you know to make it more fair, I could be wrong tho. Just my thought!

Re: Wake 2011
Here is my thinking on the numbers...the class is approx. 120. They say about 70% are out of state--leaving 30% to apply (JD you are the exception being technically out of state but with roots to the state). So 30% of 120=36 applicants. I'd say not everyone did it so....it isn't that big of an applicant pool.jdemmitt wrote:I wonder how many people applied for it.

Re: Wake 2011
Just because I have already thought about it, I will what I have somehow come up with, probably very unreliably:
I figure at this point, there are maybe 200-250 people deposited or planning to deposit (may be a little high since the class size is supposed to be around at least 40+ or so less than that, but i'm trying to account for double-deposits, etc...). I figure around 1/2 of those are from out of state/didn't feel like they had a strong enough connection to care to apply. We are down to 125. I figure a number of those already have such big scholarships that they didn't bother applying, and some others just didn't feel like doing the work. So, I estimate that approximately 65-80 people applied for the Smith/Shaver (Confidence Interval of 5%).
I base this off nothing truly rational. It's just the best guess I can come up with. Hopefully it's less than that, otherwise I might go buy a lottery ticket for a better shot.

Shoot, NCtoDC. You beat me. If the 70/30 number is right for OOS/IS, then my number is definitely way off. If that's it, then I would guess no more than 50.

It didn't occur to me to think that it was open to accepted students...as in those who may not actually attend. So yeah, the number is probably higher than 36--I'd still say you are right with no more than 50.MattThiessen wrote:Shoot, NCtoDC. You beat me. I think that number is probably right. I hope that they tell us, it'd be nice to know.

Over 80 candidates submitted essays last year. (won't say exactly who told me, but it was pm'd from someone who would definitely know)jdemmitt wrote:NCtoDC wrote:It didn't occur to me to think that it was open to accepted students...as in those who may not actually attend. Dear Wake,
Please feel free to accept me off the waitlist prior to June 13th (my birthday). This game was fun while it lasted, and now I just want to give you my money and withdraw from other schools.
XOXO
I AM DESPERATE
