12/30/10 App Rec'd (hidden fee waiver)
1/4/11 App complete and under review
1/4/11 Email notification of fee waiver (after Oct LSAT... COME ON Howard, get it together!)
1/21/11 Accepted via email with $25k scholarship for 11-12 year. No GPA stips, but didn't say anything about the next 2 yrs.
Haven't rec'd anything in the mail yet, though they said it was coming about 2 weeks ago.
Hope this helps!
From what I've heard in this thread and other places, the stips are mad known to you AFTER you pay the deposit.

LuBru wrote:Interesting. Is this a HUSL thing? I only ask because the 2 other schools where I've been offered scholarships the GPA stips were in with the offer letter - but they were also 3 yr offers. I feel like it is reasonable to have a GPA requirement for scholarships - but seems a little messed up for HUSL to make folks aware of stips AFTER they've made a commitment.Manash wrote:From what I've heard in this thread and other places, the stips are mad known to you AFTER you pay the deposit.LuBru wrote: 1/21/11 Accepted via email with $25k scholarship for 11-12 year. Or, are you saying that I'd have the opportunity to renew this scholarship each year provided I perform well? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding or making this too complicated. Basically, I interpreted Howard's letter as "You can have $25k for the first year, don't count on any more." Right?
Some schools do that, and by that I mean thy offer 1 year, non renewable scholarships. That may be what you have here. Howard seems to have gone away from their policy of not telling students what the scholarship stipulation is until they made a deposit. When I applied in 2008 though, that is how they did it.
As for the reasonableness of scholarship stipulations, I agree with you. For the most part, they are fine. However, Howard requires top 15% and in the past has required even higher scholarship stipulations. That is ridiculous. I dont care how confident in themselves a person is, you are, they are a fool if they take a 15% or higher scholarship stipulation.

... the only thing I got was that tacky scholarship paper... did anyone else get any "acceptance packets"?

After I emailed them and asked why I haven't received a packet yet I got a phone call from a PRIVATE NUMBER... it was people in Howard's admissions. I mean, sheesh... who calls people from a blocked number?

Also, about these scholarships...
Does Howard do what some other TTT schools do and put all the "merit scholars" in one section, so that it's easier for more people to lose their scholarships?

I've been accepted since January and have yet to receive and admitted students packet. Also, is there no Admitted Students day!?!?

Same, except my offer was for $30,000. If those stipulations that others have mentioned in this thread are attached to the offer, I'll likely go ahead and withdraw.deltasigbn wrote:Accepted today via email!! $20,000 first year. Not sure about the next two years, I'll find out once I get my packet.

According to earlier TLS threads, the administration is notorious for being disorganized. I would not be surprised.mez06 wrote:I've been accepted since January and have yet to receive and admitted students packet. Also, is there no Admitted Students day!?!?

Re: Howard 2011 Applicants
Just got accepted today. I am a little skeptical as there is an error in the acceptance email. "Congratulations! I am extremely pleases to inform you that you have been admitted to the JD program at the Howard University School of Law for the fall 2011 academic year." Clearly this was not copy edited. Also, there is no mention of a scholarship. Does that mean they are not offering me any money or will they send more info in my admissions packet in the mail?

And, you go to Columbia in Chicago?
I spent many drunk nights in dorms there...

Yeah I was a little disappointed in the error in the email as well. But I was more disappointed when I saw that there was no mention of a scholarship. Though my efforts will likely be in vain, I fully intend to email them begging and pleading for just a little cash. I mean my numbers aren't phenomenal so i wasn't expecting a full ride or anything. But gosh throw me a bone howard!

Re: Howard 2011 Applicants
Is there any way to reach this school because they outright rejected me before my new lsat score came in when I specifically emailed and called them and told them to wait for my new scores which significantly incresed. I'm very pissed
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
