As far as reverse splitters, I had a frined last year accepted with a 4.0 and 162.

I also feel like most others havent gotten decisions. I only think I got mine because I visited and pushed a little.

What does everyone think about the career prospects from W&M? I don't really know what to think about the 15% NLJ 250 placement rate (although I won't put too much emphasis on those stats).

I think that W&M is one of those schools where a lot of people arent shooting for biglaw, and I know that is an easy way to cop out of the rankings, but I think that it is the case at W&M moreso than say a W&L. I think prospects will be great for VA firms as well as DC firms. I am only shooting for bigger richmond firms, so for me I feel like it is the perfect fit.

Of course I'm biased by my hope, but I feel like W&M has better national placement and prestige than most of the schools in the same range. At least at my Texas firm, I've been very surprised at how impressed people are by W&M, even compared to all of the Texas schools, except UT.
On the other hand, I do worry about it being in a super-saturated market, but it sounds like if you can do well, you can have great job options.
I'm hoping the doom and gloom of the legal job market will at least be a little rosier in two years.

Yeah that's kind of what I figured. One thing I noticed about W&M is that private practice numbers are very, very low for a school of its caliber (circa 52% I believe). I wonder why that is? Perhaps a lot of public interest kids go to W&M because it's also much cheaper than its peer schools... can't beat 49k per year compared to like 75k at Fordham or GW

I was accepted this year with a 160, 3.7 with scholly $$ so you don't even need to be that extreme..

same here, i used W&L and emory as leverage. it's been almost 2 weeks though, so i hope theyre just not ignoring it :/

Hey! I'm a 1L and I think a lot of the reason the private practice numbers are so low is that a lot of people that come here come because its so well regarded for public service. The "Citizen Lawyer" ideal is taken seriously here and a lot of people have no desire to go to a big firm or enter into private practice. Plus, if you want to go into public service, you can't really beat w&m's price! Hope this helps!

She asked me Why WM, about a couple of my jobs/internships, and about a couple of my major extracurriculars, and maybe a couple of other things and then left some time for me to ask questions.
