To those that requested an increase in scholarship - how long did it take to hear back?

2 days. They said no.
For others, who got a positive response, it seems like it took about a week or so.

A week or so. I got an additional $3000 a year for a total of $18,000 a year.

Whatre you stats? I got 15k initially too and the out of state tuition reduction, I'd feel greedy asking but if we have similar numbers i might give it a shot

The GRF total value is 13k and is suppose to cover the out of state tuition difference + 4k stipend. The tuition difference is 10k. 10k + 4k = 14k. Somethin don't make sense, unless the difference in 2011-2012 is going to be reduced to 9k.

I think its either one of two things:

1. Instate tuition is going up by an additional 1K this year compared to OOS (what you mentioned)

OR

2. They say 13K because taking into account the taxes that will be taken out of the 4K stipend...it will be closer to 3K instead of 4K in your pocket.

I dont think they have posted what the tuition will be this coming year have they?

I just called and admissions said that the board meets in April to decide the tuition increase. She said in the past few years it has been an average of 5-6% per year. Ew...

EDIT

2008-2009 - $20,146 instate
2009-2010 - $21,646 instate (6.9% increase)
2010-2011 - $23,800 instate (9.05% increase)

lies - those are some hefty increases

my GPA has increased .06 from below median to exactly median (LSAT a few points above 75%). I don't have any better financial aid offers to use as leverage. Is a GPA increase worth writing about, asking for a scholarship increase?

Haha, good work here brother. I ain't thrilled about those percentages though. I was only gonna have to take out 20k a year in stafford, now Im gonna have to take out the tuition hike in grad plus at that damn 8%

It seems like a lot of people think it is beneficial (both for yourself and for your application) to visit W&M. Does anyone have any advice for someone who is unable to visit but has W&M as one of their top choices? LOCI or anything?

I would probably e-mail Dean Shealy an LOCI/Why W&M. I was able to meet with her in person (after I was accepted) and she is very nice and very interested in the applicants (that's at least the feeling I got from her). I enjoyed talking to her and she made me feel like W&M was a good choice for me based upon what W&M has to offer. So, I would e-mail her why you are unable to visit in the next few weeks and why you want to go to W&M. I dont think it can hurt.

+1, she is super nice. It definitely couldn't hurt. Or maybe see if you could even set up a phone interview of some sort?
