I believe the GF is $9k (to make up the diff. b/w OOS and IS tuitions) + a $4k stipend

thank you brother

Which fellowship? Do you know if most fellowship offers have been made?

I was just admitted to BU with a 163/3.96 - you should be hearing soon because their first admitted students day is March 4th; Still have yet to hear from W&M which is REALLY disappointing considering I submitted my app in early November - probably not a good sign... :( I also submitted a late application to U of V and had a WL response within a month which makes not hearing from W&M even more disheartening.

That's strange about W&M because they have really quick turnaround time from my experience (submitted 1/8 -> decision 1/16) and what I've heard from others. Maybe drop them an e-mail I wonder if something happened with your app.

The fellowship is the Grad Fellowship they give to out of state people to reduce the tuition down to the in-state level in exchange for 8hrs/wk of work in the library or administration apparently. Its based only on merit and is distinct from those other ones (technology, e.g.) that they request essays for. I didn't apply for those so I havent been involved in the process and don't really know if those offers have been made or not.

Thanks for the heads up about BU by the way, friend.

Thanks for the info on the Grad Fellowship!

My online status checker has said complete since November and has never changed to in review - I'm not going to push it, they probably just don't want me. I have a lot of great offers already, but W&M was one of my top choices because of its location and focus on American History so I'm very disappointed :(

Has anyone else been accepted into any of the Research Institutes (Bill of Rights, Technology, Election Law, Etc.) ?

Anyone know the quietest place in town? I'm looking for a secluded, quite 1 bedroom off campus. TYIA!

Any mid-late Janurary completes/under reviews hear anything yet? I assume the answer is no, as people who went complete in the fall are still awaiting their results, but perhaps I am wrong about that

It varies. I was complete on 1/18 and got accepted a couple of weeks ago.

I went complete late January and found out a few days after I went complete, so it doesnt seem to have much to do with when you submit

Same dates. Quick turn around for me at W&M.

So looking at LSN, there's been mainly acceptances. Does this mean a huge wave of dings/WL are coming? And does that mean if I haven't gotten in yet, that I won't at all? :?

Last year, W&M unleashed their waitlist on Mar 19. Prior to that, the last batch of acceptances was around Feb 8-10

Since this year has followed last year quite closely, I would say that, yes, a huge wave of WLs is coming - probably w/in 2-3 weeks or so

Unless there is one last batch of acceptances coming, it looks unlikely that W&M will be sending more acceptances. Also, W&M waitlists all non-admits (they don't ding). Therefore, if you're WLed, chances are very low that you will be accepted.

Congrats! Do you think your visit worked in your favor? How far in advance (of the actual appointment) did you schedule a visit?

Its hard to gauge how much of an impact the visit had.. but i have a feeling it helped. I got in touch with the office and scheduled it for a week ahead.

When I spoke with the admissions office a couple weeks ago, they informed me that they won't be sending those out until March (which is fast approaching). So I don't think we know yet about those.

When I visited on Monday, one of the dean's said this year's applications are lower than last year's. She anticipated around a two week turn-around past the deadline date and added "no promises."

She said that the institute's fellowships have not been sent to their respective offices yet, and that they will be sent with the essays after the bulk of the students are accepted.

I have to say, I enjoyed the tour and class, but really felt like the meeting with the dean was "frowned" upon. She really seemed like they saw it as unimportant and almost a bother. She didn't ask me any questions at all. . .I was really disappointed. . .I know that sounds bad, but I was. My numbers are really borderline for them though, so maybe that was why. . . .

Bahhhhh. W&M! I don't want to be waitlisted or rejected by you. I'm in your range for LSAT and above your GPA median. And *I* thought my application was well thought out.

Which dean did you meet with? I met with Dean Shealy and she seemed so enthusiastic to meet me, and she asked me tons of questions. I mentioned this earlier in the tread but it basically felt like I was being interviewed, even though I had already been accepted. I also feel like it probably had an impact on my scholarship being more than doubled, so I wouldn't be surprised if that helped tip the scales in your favor, TyrodTaylor.
