I think Roy gave McDonald, Bullock, Barnes, and Strickland the green light to take some practice shots against Wake. That's all fine and good, but we need one of these guys to find his shot before Selection Sunday (and, ideally before the Duke rematch on the 5th).
I watched the game last night. I definitely think Roy gave the guys the green light last night so they could try to shoot themselves of out their slump. Unfortunately, it didn't work. It's imperative that they start to get consistent production from behind the arc because if they don't, I do not see them beating Dook in the rematch nor advancing very far in the NCAA tourney....BUT if the shots do begin to fall like they are supposed to, look out! This team could make some serious noise in the tourney if they are hitting on all cylinders (see the first game against Boston College this year, 32 point beatdown).

Go HEELS!

I definitely don't think it was a green light from Roy. He wouldn't do that. I think it was simply a matter of settling for shots. It was a pretty flat game overall. Thanks to HB for slamming the team back to life when the game got down to 8. I'm not too worried though, I think it's hard to keep up the intensity vs. inferior competition when it's just a regular season game.

Though, the missing of all those shots is a problem. I think UNC is like 7-47 or something gross from 3-point since halftime of the Duke game.

You're certainly right about them settling for too many jumpers. Although, the only way to get out of a slump is to see the ball swish through the net (see Wayne Ellington in 2009 vs. Miami when he went nuts from 3 after a long slump, and we all know how finished the season...). The sky is the limit for this team.

I watched the game last night too and every time they shot a 3 it made me cringe. This team is so good at driving the basket and inside the paint but for the tourny someone is going to have to start hitting from the perimeter. The 3-pointer that KM made late in the second half was sick and I wish he would do it more often. If he developed some confidence in his jump shot like he showed there he has the potential to be a great player.

Kendall "Butter" Marshall is gonna be a good one for the Heels. If he can keep dishing the rock like he has been and chip in 7-10 points a game, that would be huge.

Definitely. He passes like a young Jason Kidd.

My biggest frustration (that doesn't involve waiting to hear from UNC Law or working on my master's thesis) is Reggie Bullock. Dude can shoot. He proved that in high school. But for some reason he's gone absolutely cold over the past 2 months.

BTW, congrats to those of you who have been accepted I'm green with envy. Hopefully, I'll have the privilege to join some of you great people on the Hill.
I feel you. I've been "Complete, Ready for review" since 11/29 (In-state).
Wow. I've been complete since mid-December. C'mon, UNC, please admit me...please. :D

I'm with you - still waiting to be 'In Review' and still very much hoping for an acceptance.

I don't think it should be taken as a good or a bad sign for our admission chances. I bet they've started by reviewing applications with especially high scores or other stand-out attributes. For the rest of us, it'll just take a bit of time to get into the formal review process. As frustrating as it is, at least they're actually taking the time to read applications thoroughly. All that said, I hope the wheels start rolling in the next week or two.
Figured I'd chime in with my 0.02 here

I took a look at the decision dates provided by TLS for UNC for 08-09 and and 09-10

08-09:

09-10:

It looks like there should be another wave acceptances in late Feb/early March, so I guess we'll all have to hold tight till then

Best of luck to everyone

I'm just worried that I applied late and am not even under review yet!

I've probably dropped my numbers in this thread a few times, but anyone want to speculate on my fate.

Instate 3.26/167 applied 1/13 complete since 1/20. Alright softs and work experience.

I want Henson or Zeller to touch the ball 5 feet from the hoop on every possession. Our shot selection is terrible. Absolutely NOBODY on this team can shoot, and it will come back to haunt us later (a 7-footer is our clutch free throw guy for crying out loud). If everyone stays, this team could make a lot more noise next year than this year. I could definitely see both Marshall and Barnes as All-Americans by the time their careers are done.

So who's going to make it to ASD? Unless my thesis defense falls on that day I'll be there!

I just received a fee waiver today. Is it worth applying to this late in the game with a 3.82/164 (OOS)?

I think so, if you're interested! Especially since they don't usually give out fee waivers....

I am in the same boat. Applied end of October (in-state). "Complete, ready for review" since December. I did call the admissions office last week to find out if this status means they haven't started reviewing my app yet. The answer was: "Not necessarily. Different groups of people review the applications and the online status is not necessarily updated real-time." They also said decisions will be going out later this month and through March in batches on a rolling basis.

So just hang in there everyone. I know it's hard and stressful, but hopefully we'll all make it and it will all be worth it. I am trying to keep very busy at work to keep from constantly checking the online status. :-)

I'll most likely be at the April 8th one. But I live in Chapel Hill so that could change and be no big deal.

Hey guys since I'm sure I won't be attending now I choose to withdraw. It would have been great to see if I could have gotten that chancellor scholarship but that would be a pretty jerk thing to do since I'm pretty sure even with it I wouldn't attend. I hope one of you guys get my slot and that scholarship. Oh and on the subject of basketball, being from Illinois and going to the state school Duke and UNC really piss me off that they come and take our best players (maggette, Frasor, Scheyer, May, etc.....). Also I'm still not over that national championship game.............

Nice post haha. GL in your pursuits! I haven't even got in, but I always respect people who withdraw for the sake of others.

and I thought your name started with UNC? is your name really just uncommon and there is no double meaning?
