Potential LOCI:

Dear UNC Law Admissions:

The law school is the shit, and I want to be a part of the class of 2014. Furthermore, I want to rush Franklin Street next April when the Tar Heels win the national title.

Sincerely,

Yeah, UVA doesn't send email WL notifications, either. I finally got around to looking at my status-checker yesterday and found out I'd been waitlisted back in February.

Really?? I got an email for the WL in Feb. Maybe it went in your spam for some reason?

I'm right @ the 50% LSAT and slightly lower GPA than their 25% mark.

Hey Everyone, I was just waitlisted today as well! I feel like I am coming in late in the game (well 76 pages later for this thread I guess), but since it has been like 6-7 months since I submitted my app i had assumed I was rejected. Anyway, now I am really interested in UNC again, and was wondering how much more competitive (if at all) it was for out of state people? I know it is like 70 -30 in state, but do less out of state people apply? They really do seem to be waitlisting everyone but... it is worth a shot right? Any help would be awesome!

so this is proof they actually did reject people..... well a single person anyway.

if you don't mind, could you share your #s pacers?

Yea sure. My LSAC GPA was a 3.94 but my lsat was 151. Wrote an LSAT addendum and really stressed my resume/internship experience. It was a reach and a half for me but going this long I kind of figured they would have rejected me by now and maybe my GPA would have helped. Got waitlisted at IU-Bloomington so thought I may have had a chance. Good luck to everyone else though.

I don't think so, I check my spam periodically. It's possible that I was totally spaced out and selected 'Delete All' at some point, but.. I don't know, I can't imagine an @virginia.edu address going to my spam box.

Sorry for all the bad news guys/gals. For what its worth I didn't get into UNC the first year I applied either. I scored a a little higher on the LSAT, sent my app in before the winter break (when I think they actually read a lot of apps), actually did the optional essays, and was finally accepted in one of the first batches.

For what it's worth, if you look at the WL2010 thread they accepted a handfull of people mid-late May and then gradually trickled them in from the list late June till the first day of classes.

curious as to everyone's attitude on this. I know its different for everyone but I plan on going to Chicago Kent (can't bank on getting into UNC) which requires me to move from DC to Chicago. I plan on doing this in mid July. If I get a call on July 30th, it would be very difficult to turn around and move down to NC. Is anyone else in a similar situation? How would you handle things?

I am in a similar situation. Currently I plan on getting an apartment for my backup school and just riding it out. I would honestly drop everything and pay two rents if I had to. However, i am going to try and find an apartment with a breaking clause in their contract. Maybe pay three months rent and they let you out of the lease. I guess you just have to decide if it's worth it to you.

what school is your backup? I'm trying to figure out if its worth it to drop everything after moving. I guess its all a "what if" game right now and its probably a long shot but I feel its best to mentally prepare for it anyway.

You might be able to negotiate this. You would probably have to pay a fee for it, but you could also find someone else to take your place on the lease and get the landlord to sign a novation so you aren't liable for rent (ask him/her first though, since landlords tend to not like novations). There's no easy fix, but there are at least options.. :/

My backup is UF. But I'm a gainesville native, I must have skipped over the fact you were moving first. Yeah, if i had to move and then consider dropping everything that would change things. Stressful that's for sure...
