I applied 10/2 and haven't heard anything from the previous threads it looks like the admission office doesn't provide a lot of communication.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Speaking as someone who applied last year and got in, hunker down for a long wait. I am pretty sure the first people didn't hear anything till December last year. Also, they are VERY sporadic and slow. I know some people that didn't hear back till early summer.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
This is so very true. I was one of the ones who got in around Christmas, but some folks who applied before me didn't hear until March/April and still got in. Just be prepared for a good long wait. Don't flip out when other schools are sending acceptances and UNC isn't even sending an email confirming that your application has been received or is complete. It's the norm.statuscheckerssuck wrote:Speaking as someone who applied last year and got in, hunker down for a long wait. Good luck everyone.
I am a 1L at UNC so if you have any questions feel free to ask. I am not an expert by any means, but I will try to answer when I can.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
I'm a 1L at UNC. FWIW, I was put off a bit by the admissions staff when I was applying, but it is in no way representative of the environment of the school. I love it here, so far UNC has exceeded my expectations.
Good luck! Happy to answer any questions.

out of curiosity, were either of you 1Ls out of state applicants? do you know any out of state applicants and possibly their numbers? I'm kind of assuming the medians don't represent what an OOS applicant would need to be competitive

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
I was an instate applicant when I applied, and I had numbers fairly close to the median. I am classmates with quite a few former OOS applicants, but I do not know their numbers.Barbie wrote:out of curiosity, were either of you 1Ls out of state applicants? do you know any out of state applicants and possibly their numbers? Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Hey has anyone gotten a status checker or email or something requesting the applicaiton fee? I have a fee waiver but it wasn't a code-- it's physical. What do I do with this?

You should have entered this on LSAC right before you checked out. There should have been a spot where you type it in manually...

Also, I haven't received anything at all from them. Not even an email saying they received my application or anything. Am I alone on this, or are we all in the same boat?

Same deal..apparently that's how it goes with UNC..they're actually the only school I haven't heard ANYTHING from yet. Even GW sent out e-mails this week.Neo wrote:Also, I haven't received anything at all from them. Not even an email saying they received my application or anything. Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Wait, so you guys already paid the application fee? It said on LSAC to send it in. But I don't know if I missed the instructions on where to send it... I thought it would be kind of like UF or something where you get an email a week later telling you how to pay.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
My LSAC account said it had already been sent in when I went to check out..I assumed that meant that UNC had given me a fee waiver. Maybe you're fee has been waived?

Oh man now I'm not sure haha. I thought it said it had to be mailed in. I know I only paid $12 at checkout. I have a fee waiver but like I said its nothing I could fill out, its something that was handed to me and doesn't contain a code. I think I'm going to have to call hah.

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Alright guys, I just called and...
if you need to pay the application fee, you do so at this site:
https://www.law.unc.edu/admissions/appl ... yment.aspx
if you have a physical fee waiver (ie it was handed to you, isnt electronic) you have to mail it in.
your file will be complete after either of these things are done!
hope that helps off to mail mine in!

Re: UNC 2011 Applicants
Yeah because of UNCs 75% in state, 25% OOS requirement, the medians and percentiles avg listed are difficult to apply. basically, if you are in state you can be a bit below, and if you are OOS, you need to be a bit above. its why unc has the weirdest LSN graphs.Barbie wrote:out of curiosity, were either of you 1Ls out of state applicants? do you know any out of state applicants and possibly their numbers?
