Chris, congrats on the good LSAT, but I think you've got too pretty of an LSAT to waste on the first three schools.

Have you sent any apps to more splitter friendly schools like WUSTL or Illinois, seeing as you're looking at the Midwest? Iowa and Minn are great choices for your stats, too, though. Good call on those.

Those first three are my "back-up" schools, persay... Although I'm pretty set on practicing in the Twin Cities, so WM and St. Thomas probably make more sense than going to WUSTL, Illinois, or even Iowa. I'll put Illinois and WUSTL on my radar though (especially if I can dig up a fee waiver!). Thanks for the suggestion!

Submitted to DePaul, Illinois, and WUSTL today. Thanks for the advice!

3.5+/170+ is not a splitter. I'm a splitter. 2.5x/170. Applying to a crap ton of reaches that are basically auto-dings plus WUSTL, UIUC, and Northeastern. Thought about retaking, but my 170 is above the 75th for every school I have a reasonable shot at. Retaking next year if I have a bad cycle. Will have 2 years of WE then and a 173/ED might get me NU. Good luck everyone except the 4.0+/170 guy who is calling himself a splitter.

Yeah, seriously, some of you people in here (I'm looking at you, Incompetentia and Confused7) just plain suck. You are either 1) that kid who borderline cries when they receive a 95 and then tells you your 79 is "awesome!" or 2) you are that kid who is generally on the receiving end of that (intentionally?) caustic "awesome!" due to lack of studying and is now looking to get off to a post LSAT score HJ.

haha I realllly wish I was one of the 3.5+ 'splitters'.
Just because your GPA is below the 25th of Harvard and Columbia doesn't make you a splitter in a general sense.

I think <3.6 is probably a good brightline if we're trying to define what a splitter is, in regards to the T14. A 3.5 can keep you out of schools in the CCN territory, depending on your LSAT.

Technically, a "splitter" is someone who's below 25% at whatever schools they're shooting for, so conceivably, I guess you can be a splitter with a 4.0 and a 170 if you're shooting only for HYS. Though I guess you'd be like the best reverse splitter ever.

But whatever. Let's just all admit that we're jealous of the amazing GPA's some people have. No hate.

A splitter IMO is someone whose BAD gpa keeps them out of schools. A 3.5+ is not a bad GPA, just not competitive for elite schools. Huge difference. A 2.9 is a bad gpa.

What's HJ? I consider myself a reverse splitter because of all the awesome LSAT scores I see on TLS (I would give anything for just a few extra points!). And using wiseguy's definition, I'm definitely below 25% for HYS LSAT. :(

HJ is a generally accepted acronym for hand job. In case you don't know what that is, it is when a woman (or a man) uses her/his hand to stimulate a man's genitals. Did you go to undergrad?

Thanks for the sarcasm. Excuse me for not being so vulgar minded like the rest of you.

Hahahaha. I just saw this. Be thankful you're not as vulgar-minded as most of us. I'm not surprised, though. I would be willing to bet there is a linear correlation between splitterness (traditional splitter = high LSAT, lower GPA) and vulgar-mindedness.

It would certainly explain what we were doing besides studying in college...

I choose to read the title of this thread as, "2010 Splitters Appreciation Thread," if it makes you feel better.

Guys, don't be jerks. I consider myself a splitter with my numbers, because they make me a splitter at the schools I'm applying to. I'm at or below the 25th percentile GPA for pretty much every school I applied to, and I want to go to those just as badly as you want to go to the schools you applied to.

Let's all be splitters in harmony :)
