Financial aid generally consists of 20,500 in federal loans with the rest of your COA offered in Grad Plus loans. Most schools do not give free need based aid (grants). When they do, it is only 1-2k.

If you mean scholarships, well that is a whole different dept. Admissions gives out those. They have nothing to do with fin aid.

I think I received mine a while back too though. Did you fill out your FASFA by the priority deadline?

I received my waitlist letter via snail mail a few days ago too, I sent off a letter of continued interest and will be calling within the week to restate my interest.

Quick weird question (feel free to laugh at me) for anyone who lives around the area or has visited the school -- from what I saw on the website their mascot is a spider, are there big mascot-y spiders & decals all over campus? I really love the school but am incredibly arachnophobic ... If I spent 3 years there I'd probably get over that fear but just wanted to check to see how spider-y the campus really is.

Interesting question indeed...I am a 1L at UR, the spider is NOT too pervasive, especially not at the law school, though its image is definitely visible more so around the undergrad campus.

Thank you very much! I was hoping it would be like that, more mascot-y around the undergrads, and I could mostly avoid it in law school. I really appreciate the insight!

When I said financial info I guess I meant both scholarships and grants/loans. I've haven't heard about either of them and my fafsa was sent in early January. I already called admissions, but I haven't spoken with financial aid yet. Looks like I'll be contacting both tomorrow.

Got mine in the mail the other day. They put any scholarship money on there as UR Grant(Law). I think originally they said expect them by April 1st, so maybe they haven't gotten to all of them yet.

Yes, there are spider flags hanging around the buildings on the campus. There was a really large banner with a big one hanging across a sports stadium, which was located directly across from the law school. You will see the spiders around campus. They look just like the ones on the website. I'm very arachnophobic, but I didn't find it to be overwhelming.

I also withdrew and turned down the JMS. Good luck to those who are alternates!

Open House was pretty good. Got a free UR T-shirt from one of the apartment vendors. Haha.

And about the spider question, the dean was wearing a tie with spiders all over it lol.

If you don't go to Richmond only because you are scared of an outline drawing of a spider......you have some serious problems lol

Haha, that's pretty funny. I also LOATHE spiders. Have thought a couple times about being labeled one for going to Richmond. Creepy, vampiric creatures. ((shudder))

That being said, I am strongly leaning towards U of R. Hope to swing through to see the school in the next couple weeks!

I bet you can, and keep holding out hope for the JM! There's been a lot of them freed up not to mention other alternates (like myself) withdrawing from contention.
I'm routing for you

Wow, That was fast. I'm surprised they are even going to the WL already, I was told they weren't going to look at it before the 15th.

Congratulations!

This gives me hope. I live in Richmond, waitlisted, and it'd be nice not to have to pack up and move to a new city.

I can't believe you would even consider leaving us awesome ppl at Wake. Seriously though unless you want to practice in Richmond, you should definitely go with Wake.

 the messed up thing is that I DO really wanna work in Richmond. Right now I'm trying to research how WFU places there...

Thanks for the congrats everyone. I got a call from the dean last night, and i was jumping for joy. It was really fast. I hope you other WLers see movement soon.
I have to reply with an answer by 4/15.
