Richmond is a great little city. Well, the right areas of Richmond are great. However, you'd be pretty crazy to pass up the kind of money you're getting from Wake Forest to attend U of R at sticker. Just my two cents.girlonfire wrote: the messed up thing is that I DO really wanna work in Richmond. Right now I'm trying to research how WFU places there...
Thanks for the congrats everyone. I got a call from the dean last night, and i was jumping for joy. It was really fast. I hope you other WLers see movement soon.

That is a tough decision. I've never visited Wake, but I LOVE Richmond and the value of being placed in the internships they have access to by virtue of being IN Richmond are just amazing. The Career services lady told us last week that EVERYONE who wants to be placed in Richmond Courts get placed at some point in their tenure at Richmond. She actually said they sometimes have more postitions than they can fill!
Are you going to the Open House tomorrow? That is their second one. . .

Re: In at Richmond - 2014
You would not believe how personal everything is there. It is absolutely wonderful and career services is no different. You should hear some of the student stories about being "found" by a professor they don't even know to receive tips on interviewing with people/companies/judges they know personally. The alumni network is also apparently amazing.
I think a lot of it has to do with how small the class itself is, but it also seems to kind of be their mission.

Gosh this is a tough call. I have to say I think you would be nuts to pay sticker at Richmond. Wake should give you the credentials to get a job in Richmond. Ijust don't think the debt is worth the risk. I know the data from USNWR is looked down on on TLS but it still paints a good enough picture to see the differences in schools. Have you checked the graphs in the sticky note?girlonfire wrote:the messed up thing is that I DO really wanna work in Richmond. Handed in my deposit as well. I definitely had my "OMG DEBT!" panic period. After speaking with a lot of lawyers with loan payments each month, I decided that it was manageable.crysmissmichelle wrote:+ 1hmmhaa77 wrote:Deposit is going in the mail today.

I'll be sending in my deposit in a day or two. I loved the open house on Friday and can't wait to get started, but then the idea of thousands in debt re-emerges. Should be manageable though.

So I got dinged by Richmond on Tuesday, and what do I find in my mailbox today? Two spam mailings from Richmond! Both talking about how great the school is. (I've never received any communication from them except for the complete e-mail and the ding) I know it's a great school, that's why I applied. These people really know how to rub it in.

It's okay, the day right after I got waitlisted I got more stuff as to why I should apply... I think all totaled I've gotten like 8 mailings from them.sterl1002 wrote:So I got dinged by Richmond on Tuesday, and what do I find in my mailbox today? Two spam mailings from Richmond! Yeah, I just needed to vent. I have a pile of waitlists and rejections and so far no acceptances this cycle. I was hoping to hear something from the schools I'm waiting on today and the only thing I find in my mailbox is stuff from Richmond and it kind of set me off lolcrossarmant wrote:It's okay, the day right after I got waitlisted I got more stuff as to why I should apply... Just received a call from Dean Rahman about pulling 3 waitlisted students off and I was one of them! She told me to give her my decision by Wednesday. Hmmmm

She must've called you right after I got off the phone with her lol. I was told the same thing, but I haven't visited so I'm going this weekend and they're giving me until Friday to decide. Thank goodness for that, they were so nice and helpful over the phone.noleknight16 wrote:Just received a call from Dean Rahman about pulling 3 waitlisted students off and I was one of them! Hi all!
I am a terrible lurker and have been stalking this thread since page 1. Congrats to all of you that have been accepted, those of you waitlisted, and to those who have decided against U of R.
I have been waitlisted like a lot of you and Richmond is my top choice as I am local. Any of the people accepted from the waitlist thus far willing to share stats? Trying to forecast my future....a pm is fine. Of course I assume that some of you are the same people "waitlisted then accepted" from LSN but I still wanted to ask
