I'm a late January hold.

No JR1. No good.

This reminded me of the guys on Titanic who played violins together as the ship sank.

I am unhappy that I had to get off of SLS Titanic before it sank since I played cello for 6 months.

Feel reassured that they still wanted you even after they decided that maybe the didn't want us-- in my head, the later the hold the better. Yay January... :(

im looking at last year's waitlisted at harvard thread, looks like they started pulling people near the beginning of may -both jr2ing people who had jr1s before, and NEW JR1S!!! so dont lose hope completely. some of the people admitted were holds, too.

Is there still anyone out there who doesn't have a hold, jr1 or anything?

Actually, totally didn't read the late part of that post about January holds. I am actually January 10. Not that hold really means anything anyway.

More than any other thread, this one makes me want to retake and reapply.

I am not sure about the reapplying part, but I am tempted to retake.

If I thought a June retake would actually help get me off the waitlist, I'd totally do it. I scored 5 points below my practice test average. I just think June is too late unless I reapply.

If you are unhappy with your results this cycle, reapply! I don't really see the downside other than the time and app fees.

That would be the sensible thing to do. I'm just ready for this crap to be over. I don't know how you did it last year.

For real, man. Don't screw up your career just because you're impatient. There are plenty of worthwhile things to do for a year.

I end up couldn't go for family problems, so it was easy to make that choice to reapply. Seeing that I didn't retake, I was really ready to get it over with. And I am 30+ lol

Seriously, you are worth the best opportunities, so don't settle if the result is not *realistically* meeting your expectations. Hiding out the economy one more year isn't a bad idea. You are really only less than 2 years from hiring right now...

Haha, well I'd hardly say choosing to go to Penn, Michigan or Northwestern over waiting a year in hopes of scoring higher and getting into Harvard qualifies as screwing up my career. But yeah, I see your point and I'm thinking about it.

I got into Michigan again. Penn only takes the highest score anyway. NU - well I don't really see you being happy with NU ;)

If you really scored much lower than your average, and you can rationally explain why you want to shoot higher (or get more money, which is very very valid), then go for it. Upside: higher schools and/or more money, down side: 1 year of WE and waiting for economy to improve. You can probably justify the downside against 1 year of lost biglaw salary.
