It's possible, people have gotten JR1's very quickly, certainly in under a week.Nola wrote:Do the JR1's all get emailed at the same time or do they trickle out as the day progresses?
I went UR 11/22.
Would I be included in this batch?

Thanks for the positive energy you are contributing to this thread. It's great when you make funny jokes that break the tension for people who are hoping for JR1's. Keeps spirits high.
r6 and I will be offering support to all those who feel sad about not hearing from Harvard yet. Whether they be from Philly or elsewhere.

If you haven't gotten a JR1 today, is it safe to assume you missed this round (one way or the other)?

So I went under review 11/16, complete 11/24. My lsat is at the 75th and my gpa is above it, like many of you I was really hoping for a JR1 today. I always knew a school as good as Harvard isn't simply a numbers game, but I hoped that they would give me the opportunity for an interview (I am still hopeful, although this thread kind of implies getting a JR1 now would be an exception to the rule). Harvard has been my first choice for awhile now, so I'm a little sad and scratching my head because I really did take my time putting this application together. Also now I'm scared to send out my apps to safer schools because I'm worried glaring error on my applications.

I wouldn't worry. You'll probably get an interview in the next batch -- your numbers are too good not to. I don't think it's as straightforward as "go under review on X date --> receive JR1/rejection Y days later" kind of thing.hotshot234512 wrote:So I went under review 11/16, complete 11/24. Why did I not stay for a summer and get my GPA above median? It would only take .02 of a point damn it. That's the question that's on my mind right now.

Yeah we got this! I'm pretty much exactly at the medians myself.FlamingCow wrote:I wouldn't worry. You'll probably get an interview in the next batch -- your numbers are too good not to. So we didn't get JR1 emails today, no big deal, there's a whole lot of time left in this cycle. I'm prepared to wait it out as long as I have to.

Simple question: Is writing the date of December LSAT enough for informing Admissions that you intend to take the exam (not asking about whether they would wait, no one can know that until I a) get a rejection with first batch b) do not ). Or should I write a short e-mail like;
Admissions:
Fyi, I am taking December LSAT. (I do NOT suck) (No u) (Bawww please wait)
Yours sincerely,
nullisecundus
??!?!

I would say to people worrying about lower LSAT scores and "automatic admits," I got a JR2 in the first wave with 171/3.99.

Maybe I can retake Feb after I get decisions from all the other schools? (that way if I bomb it won't hurt my chances elsewhere)

I'm at a 170 too...hopefully HLS will be kind to us reverse splitters! Didn't seem like a lot of people got JR1 today...or did most overachieving TLSers already get JR2 as the first batch?

Ya know, if Harvard doesn't occasionally let in people with numbers like mine, they're eventually going to lose out on a ton of app fees from people who have no hope... admitting me is really in their best interest. Just lookin' out.

No, they tend to go out once or twice a week. If they go out early in the week then there is the possibility for more going out later in the week.s0ph1e2007 wrote:so consensus is that JR1s all go out on tuesdays?
But I believe that JR1s become less predictable as the cycle goes on.

I'm 11/23 UR so thinking in the next 1-2 weeks or not at all
my GPA makes Harvard sad.

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
I just realized an error on the bottom section of my resume. I spelled "extracurricular" like-a-so: "extracirricular" . Sickening mistake. It is tucked away on the bottom of the second page of the resume, and it is in an otherwise carefully edited application that's not riddled with errors. I conveniently submitted this resume to Stanford, NYU, and Columbia also. First, any idea if this is a make-or-break mistake? Second, I already emailed NYU and Columbia an "updated" version of the resume. Would this be a good idea at Harvard? I submitted on 11/15 and have been UR for a while, not sure of the exact date. So I'm leaning toward not mailing a new copy of the resume, thinking that it might be too late and that it might also just highlight the error. My numbers are 173/3.81.

Sorry if this was discussed, not reading 50+ pages produced by Harvard-related neuroses, but did any of you guys participate in an online information session? They sent me an email about one for students/alumni from my UG... how does an online info sess work anyway?
On a separate note, I've been UR since 11/24 and I didn't even apply until early Nov. Do they have some crazy efficient adcomm team or am I just in the auto-ding pile? (Both?)

I believe they are very efficient. I applied 11/10 and went UR 11/22. But it could be that I'm automatically out as well.
