weird....but you're in! congrats!

Thanks! :D I hope so! Georgetown is my first choice but they're obviously sending me mixed messages! I wish I hadn't checked and had just gotten the letter.

Thanks! I sent 11/17 or 18, went complete 11/24 and 12/3, was requested to interview on campus on the 21st and then updated again today.

Congrats!!!!! Hopefully this means you're in... and I'm nearly positive it does :)

On the other hand, it makes me a littttttle worried about the accuracy of the idea that everyone who gets access to the website has been accepted. I'm probably just being paranoid because I got my username/pw on Monday but I'm still waiting for my letter.... do we still think that access definitely equals acceptance??

don't worry that you're not accepted, especially not yet, because you ARE in :). I didn't get my letter until 5 days after I was able to access the website, and that was earlier this month, when holiday mail volume was lower. Mail is a cluster-eff this time of year.

Acceptances come by snail mail....so it sounds like (last year at least) email was the kiss of WL/Reject death.

Obviously they accept some people, right?...I mean I did not expect to hear that a large percentage went from held to accept, but I was hoping maybe 15%? How did you do research on those who have been "held"

From a practical standpoint, it is unlikely nobody gets accepted after being held. After all, if they end rejecting everyone they hold, they may as well reject them right away (or waitlist them). However, it probably isn't likely that a large proportion gets accepted (otherwise it would seem unnecessary to hold them again). Pretty much it isn't a good sign, but it isn't a done deal yet.

I wouldn't worry too much. I think if I'm the one exception to that rule it's because I had to sign up for an interview time on the website so my information would already be in. I'm hoping that's not the case! I'm sure you're in!

Why doesn't GULC just waitlist them or reject? What is the purpose of being held?

Not asking you, LOL! Just wondered what the point of holding is. Maybe they are waiting to see if ED students to other LS's are withdrawing from GULC and/or how many new applicants they are getting in late Dec, January. I don't know. Just not clear as to the concept of being held as opposed to waitlist/reject.

I'm rooting for you ksimon2007!

I dont think ksimon thought you were asking him, more of a general expression acknowledging that he understood what you were saying haha. And GULC as well a other law schools are probably holding people until they get a better grasp of the next wave of applicants (the dec LSAT takers and the late birds). Then they can decide from that larger pool who's in and who gets axed.

lol point taken...I know of two students just from LSN and here who are withdrawing one because of ED...so I assume that does play a part...my chances were minimal even before the hold so we'll see

The reason for the hold is that they are not ready to make a decision for you yet. However, they realize that you might think something is wrong/missing/application lost/whatever, so they say you are held instead of not telling you anything. They are just waiting to see what the entire applicant pool looks like before they make a decision.

Just wanted to provide a quick update for those still waiting:
I was stuck at 12/3, finally updated to 12/22 yesterday, then this afternoon I updated again and was able to request my username/password to the admitted students (checked around 2:00pm). First acceptance, and I am sooooo excited, best christmas present ever. Def one of my top choices, and I'm looking forward to the tough decision of picking out a school. Good luck to all of those still waiting and happy holidays.

If anyone is curious: 3.5X/170, graduated in May, just got a "real" job as a data analyst, but I didn't have that on my resume when I applied mid November.

Congrats on the officialism of the acceptance! I'm assuming those of us who generated on Tuesday will be able to access the site tomorrow. My UN/PW still doesn't work. There's probably a 4-day turnaround.

Same, letter today. -- I withdrew on the 21st so they must have sent them out just before that.

Yep, there was a nice note.

Congrats to everyone and good luck to those who are waiting -- DC is a fabulous city and I really miss it.

he wrote that he liked my PS, but it was generic enough that it could have been written on any acceptance letter
