Re: GULC Waiting Thread
after reading so many pages of this thread, I am even more confused than before.
I have two very simple questions to ask and anyone who can help me out will be deeply appreciated:
1) is it true that GULC interviews people and then makes a decision to put them on waitlist or not? why didn't I get any interview request and was directly put on waitlist? something is wrong?
2) for the regular waitlist people. the school won't let us know the decision till summer and the decision might come as late as on the day of registration? how can this ever work out if u still wanna go to school at all this year? is "regular waitlist" actually a subtle "denial"?
thanks again.

1) Yes, but this is only true for some people. Others are accepted/wl'ed/rejected without interviews. Usually people who are between accept and waitlist (whatever that means).idoubtit wrote:after reading so many pages of this thread, I am even more confused than before.

2) You should have something else lined up, another school or a job that you can quickly give notice at. Then, if you were to get accepted last minute, you would have the chance to accept within a very short amount of time (I'd heard up to 24 hours but maybe right there on the phone or not at all), in which case you would then change cities/jobs/schools ASAP. But to have your only option one school where you're waitlisted is assuredly not a good plan. Hope this helps.
Edit add: is waitlist a subtle denial? No. But it's your dreamboy/girl telling you they'll only go to the prom with you if about a dozen other people they'd prefer say 'no'. Could happen. Probably won't.

Re: GULC Waiting Thread
thanks a lot for your kind input. I already got an offer from GW 2 moths ago. I am gonna do IP law in the future given my solid science background, and GW seems to be well-known for the strong IP law program. But it's an expensive school as we all know. So the first round deposit by April 15th for GW is $500 and the second round by June 15th would be another $1000, and if I have to wait for GULC till summer I definitely have to pay for the $1500 and get prepared to be denied finally anyway.
Just debating if I should just withdraw from the waitlist now and save the $1500 , just go for GW.

I hate competing for the attention of my dreamboy coz I am too proud. I guess I know my decision now. thanks:)

Re: GULC Waiting Thread
In regards to your first reply, i.e. the $1500 is going to get spent no matter what. That's money you don't save by removing yourself from the Georgetown waitlist. Moreover, you would be having to put that money down for Georgetown, too (although it's a bit less). Granted, the money goes towards tuition, which means any deposit money you pay to George Washington is 'lost' if you end up going to Georgetown. On the other hand, if Georgetown isn't worth $1500 more to you than George Washington, then what's the point of waiting? In other words, there's no downside to staying on the GULC waitlist: it won't cost you anything, and then if they do call you, you can decide if you want to accept or not. Furthermore, this is the easiest waitlist situation in the world, since you'll already be in DC. If you really prefer Georgetown, stay on the list. Worst case scenario, either way you can go to GW, which is supposedly great for IP. That's what I would do, anyways. Don't make it about pride. You're not actively competing, you're just letting your dreamboy know that if he calls you, you'll at least pick up the phone and listen to his offer.idoubtit wrote:thanks a lot for your kind input. mr_toad,
obviously you did a more thorough research on the admission system than I did. Now I realize that I cannot save the $1500 anyway as long as I still wanna secure GW. Good point. thanks.

Also, a few LSN profiles were updated over the weekend with accepted/rejected decisions (it's not clear exactly when these decisions were released, but they were newly reflected in LSN late last week):Sandrew wrote: UPDATED 2/21 with new data.
Tough day Friday. I counted 21 or 22 applicants reporting waitlisted 2/18 on TLS and LSN, with numbers ranging from expected "auto-admits" to candidates with more marginal numbers.
175/3.76
174/3.9
174/3.38
173/3.90
172/3.92
171/3.55
171/3.4 URM
170/3.40
170/2.94
170/2.60 URM
169/3.89
169/3.88
167/3.80
167/3.75 (possibly double-counted)
167/3.7
167/3.68
166/3.8
165/3.85 URM
165/3.7
163/4.01
163/3.99
158/3.50 URM
If you've been WL'd and are still gunning for GULC, hold out hope. Judging by LSN data, plenty of folks were accepted off the waitlist in past cycles, and some even earned scholarships/grants. Get your LOCIs in the post and good luck!
Accepted:
173/3.68
170/3.87
169/3.90
169/3.85
167/3.70
165/3.75 URM
Rejected:
155/2.68 URM
It seems like GULC is making liberal use of its waitlist, and increasingly so in recent days/weeks. Whether this marks a change in behavior from prior cycles, I can't say.

Congrats! I hope there is some movement tomorrow. It seems like it is only a few days after group interviews that people get updated and a decision not too long after that...

Updated 12/3 --> Held --> 2/11 --> 2/16 --> 2/18 --> Silence. Getting kind of annoyed.

Re: GULC Waiting Thread
I am sitting at 2/3 complete and getting really impatient. Any ideas as to what could make it take so long? Also, I applied to the Public Interest Law Scholars program but haven't heard anything. Does anyone know if those people have been notified yet?

I'm sitting at 1/28 complete...and many people are before me too. I also had an interview with the Dean last week and still haven't updated.
They are slammed with applications and it just takes time for them to review them all.

Just updated again, fourth or fifth update. I interviewed last Thursday, got updated Friday, and updated again today. Getting nervous....
Btw I got the thank-you note from Dean Cornblatt too. He seems like a class act.

Is it bad if I haven't gotten an interview request? GTown is different from Harvard, right? An interview is not required for admission?

GULC is much different than Harvard lolsghall wrote:Is it bad if I haven't gotten an interview request? GTown is different from Harvard, right? An interview is not required for admission?
An interview not required. Don't worry if you have not gotten one. It doesn't mean too much as to the competitiveness of your application or your chances for acceptance.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
