Does anyone know how binding the early decision is if you were to be accepted? I haven't yet applied, and this question is rather crucial for me. I'm not talking about getting in ED and then trying to go to a different school; I'm talking about applying ED and then, for some reason, deciding that law school in general is not the right career path. So, to be clear, if you were to be accepted ED, could you decline?

Also, I can see that an obvious response may be, "Don't apply ED if you are uncertain." For the sake of my question, please avoid that response. Thank you for the help.

I don't think they're going to FORCE you to go to law school haha. Generally, binding ED means that IF you go to law school, you must attend theirs.

A question for Penn applicants: did any of you get a fee waiver but...not have your fee waived? I got a letter today very clearly saying my fee would be waived if I applied through LSAC, but when I went to test this out, it still told me the $80 fee would be added to my cart or whatever.

I was not planning to apply b/c they hadn't given me one, but now I got this, so I am reconsidering. I am going to call or email them tomorrow to ask what's going on. Just curious if this had happened to anyone else.

I also got a letter saying that my fee would be waived and when I applied through LSAC, the fee was waived.
So at least it worked fine for me.

Like you said, it will be a better to simply call and ask for help from Penn Admission Office.

Now that we mentioned fee waive, does a candidate with fee waive have even a slightly higher chance of getting accepted?

I'd say yes it does, cuz based on a thread about Penn fee waivers, it seems like Penn only gives them to people with GPAs higher than 3.7.

"Early Decision Deadline: November 15 - The application must be received by this date. You then have until December 1 to complete your application, which means that all supporting documents, including the LSAT/Credential Assembly Service Law School report and letters of recommendation, must be received by December 1."

yea, I just wasn't sure if that meant before the 15th or on the 15th. I assumed it meant on the 15th

I just called and emailed Penn to withdraw from ED and switch to RD. Hopefully they won't hate me :\

Best of luck to everyone here!

Got into Michigan last week, and Gtown, Duke, Texas before that. And based on LSN stats from last year, Michigan offered practically everyone with my numbers $$$. I just can't bring myself to commit to what is a sure sticker price for Penn compared with $$ at Michigan. Plus, I kind of want to see how NYU turns out.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
