There is speculation that 170 is the PT cutoff, but GPA also may be a factor, too.beachbum wrote:Didn't Duke matriculate ~235 students last year? Also, many 170+ applicants were not selected for PT (case in point...). Also, I am one of those few ED applicants spoken of earlier, and I fully intend on taking a seat. Probably with an awesome scholarship too.BeachandRun23 wrote:This is a quote from a prior duke law cycle. It is from Duke's website.bdubs wrote:Duke is tiny, but I don't know where you got the 80 PT seats from or why you think LLMs are included in that source. The majority of the class has to be non-pt and Duke has very few ED accepts (or applicants) on LSN.
"Applicants to Duke Law this year make up the largest and strongest group we have received to date. In addition, because we enroll 40-45 students in our summer-starting dual degree programs, there are only 160 seats in our fall JD class."
So, there were 160 seats. Because the median LSAT is 170, and applicants with a 170 or above were PT'd, I'd say probably about half the class are PT admits (170+ LSATS). So that leaves 80 or so for RD admits. Sorry.

I have 170/3.9 and didn't get PT. I actually emailed to ask about it, and they ignored my email. Oh Duke...forward wrote: There is speculation that 170 is the PT cutoff, but GPA also may be a factor, too.

Edit:
Priority Track is basically super-EA that Duke extends to only a few people...not only is it an application fee waiver, but it's also a promise to give you a decision in something like 10 days. I don't think there are technically any cut-offs, but it seems like not many under 170/3.8 make the cut.theturkeyisfat wrote:what is priority track?

You all are probably gonna have to wait for ED decisions to come out, which should be sometime this week.

I just checked this to see what was up with Duke. I feel like they are just sleeping over there in NC.

Re: Duke NOT Priority Track
3.6 is the GPA cutoff for PT. LSAT is like 170 or 171.
And take the number of seats that you're speculating about, and multiply it by 3 or 4 (25 - 30% yield rate at Duke). That's the number of acceptances Duke can make.
In other words: there are PLENTY of non-PT non-ED seats for us. Obviously you have to be qualified and have a good app, but don't fret that they'll fill up and you won't have a chance.

I'm above both and didn't get an offer of PT, I think GPA must be 3.7 and aboveduckmoney wrote:3.6 is the GPA cutoff for PT. LSAT is like 170 or 171.

170/3.9 no PT. I am going to continue to post my stats as soon as someone claim to know what PT is about.duckmoney wrote:3.6 is the GPA cutoff for PT. LSAT is like 170 or 171.

Notice the walls at 170 and 3.6. Since we know they have released only a handful of non-PT RD decisions, these are pretty good indicators for cutoffs unless they have other factors we don't know about (retakes, geography, etc.).
Although I guess the point is pretty moot, since everyone ITT is not PT and never will be.

There are most definitely other factors. It's definitely not a straight numbers thing. I would say that it's mostly the kids that they thought they would admit anyway, but, it seems like in the other thread a lot of PT applicants got waitlisted.duckmoney wrote:http://duke.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats

Re: Duke NOT Priority Track
I just kind of remembered that I applied to Duke and actually went on the checker (I threw the app in around Thanksgiving but basically considered it a lost cause.) Looks like I've been under review since 12/13. Does it really take that long to look at my gpa and say "uhhhh no."

Anyone have any idea when merit notices go out? Conflicted whether to inform Duke of what I've been offered already elsewhere, or wait through Feb/March.

I applied to Duke RD. Congrats on your acceptance, btw. Honestly, I'm surprised you got in. But that's awesome. I'm sure your are also surprised at the schools that accepted me.beachbum wrote:You all are probably gonna have to wait for ED decisions to come out, which should be sometime this week.
Duke is sort of high on my list, but not a top choice.
Congratulations!
