If you are on here and dont know that at or below median is a death sentence ITE you should possibly look elsewhere?

Who knows about him. It's just like getting a job after undergrad. If you don't put in the legwork you're not going to have one. Career Services doesn't exactly hand you jobs, you still have to apply for them and interview well. Everyone is different, so to say that one person represents everyone isn't the right way to go about it. Everyone knows the job market is tough right now, no matter what you do. It's the reason a lot of us are IN law school. But I'll be honest: It's sounding better this time this year than it did this time last year. I've met plenty of grads with really cool jobs lined up, along with those who don't have anything set up. And not all of them are top of the class.

If any of you have any non-job related questions about the school/area, feel free to ask me.

One positive is that you can find undergrads yelling 'teach mea how to bucky!' and rolling around on the floor of Wando's before the big game. This could help you forget about the CE.

He guessed that, at best, only 20 percent of his class had legal employment. Needless to say, I was shocked. I expected at least half the class to be in legal employment, even in this economy. Are there any other recent UW grads or students here that can comment on this?

A friend in the 2011 class with everything going for him/her grade and journal-wise basically pleaded with me not to attend UW because of job prospects. Said 80% of 3Ls don't have jobs, which sounds just like the class of 2010.

Not sure...complete since 10/13. I live in Madison, too, so any mailings will probably get here pretty quickly.

My impatience got the best of me and I called the UW today to get a tentative date that the admissions committee will start sending decisions...

Apparently they haven't even started reading the files yet. The woman I spoke with said that she expects that they will start reading the files next week and that it could be 6-8 weeks after that before they send any decisions.

So, I can quit diving for my phone every time I hear my email notification. For now, anyway.

did you talk to an admissions person or just a student answering phones? Because that is different than what I was told when I called asking a question about adding an addendum on my application.

Yes… my status checker says my application is under review.

Does anyone know approximately how long UW takes from review status to decision notification?

I just called them myself and the woman I spoke said "for those already In Review, you can expect a decision within the next 6 to 8 weeks."

Maybe they're just really behind this cycle...?

My status just updated to "In Review 12/3" also.

They must be really behind.

I might die waiting...I have been complete since 9/4. When I first called the admissions office in October, the woman told me that they would start sending decisions mid-November. She said that members of admissions committee were traveling for various recruiting fairs until then. Then I got the email that said December. Now we're looking at January...

I was in for a tour at Madison this past Friday. After the tour, I met with someone in the admissions office and she told me that they are looking over applications starting this week, 12/6. She told me I can expect an answer mid January based on when I got my application in. Not sure what the official time frame is for the decision process but that is the info that I got.

I think I emailed UW once or twice to ask them to review my application without my December LSAT score, but somehow they insist that they will wait for the higher score to come in. Is this a normal practice for UW or should I request again? My numbers stand at both of its medians.
I'm really dying to hear from any school...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
