same here... in review since 2/4. Changed to 2/11 a week later. No changes since. Just being patient. In review is better than a quick rejected response. :)

Yes, I did receive an email. It is a very generous offer. At the beginning of my cycle, UW was my top "realistic" choice; however, because I've made it into a couple of my reaches, I have to reassess things.

This makes things interesting.

Good luck all!

Care to reveal the content of the email?

Also, do you know if admission decisions are being posted today?

If you don't mind, what were your numbers, when were you admitted, and what was the offer? PM is probably best

Wisconsin does several waves of financial aid, and the first wave is almost always an AOF (Advanced Opportunity Fellowship). The AOFs are full-tuition fellowships for a small group of URM admitted students. I'm willing to bet good money that most (if not all) people reporting financial aid offers so far received AOF offers.

Last year, the AOF went out nearly a month before any other financial aid offers were made.

tl;dr - just because a small handful of people are posting vague comments about financial aid doesn't mean Wisconsin skipped over you. The odds are very, very strong that they haven't moved on to the large pile yet.

I'm non-URM. Hopefully they'll get me some scholly info before I visit in a couple weeks. So weird that some seat deposits are due in basically a month or 6 weeks. Ahhhhhhhh

For those on the waiting list, I went back to the 2010 forum and found that applicants were being accepted from the WL starting on April 15:

Looks like we've got a while left...

Which is just great since that is when my none refundable deposit is due to Marquette. FML

Obviously the job market will be different in 3 years (god willing), but how is it for 3Ls looking for post-grad employment now?

Also, how is UW's placement in Chicago?

It is very tough for 3Ls looking for post-grad work now. There are 37 jobs posted on the job bank right now. The majority of these are fellowships, unpaid internships, etc...There are a few attorney positions posted, but they are looking for a very specific type of applicant. Other than that job bank, it's all about who you know, I guess. A very large number of the 3L class is still looking for work.
UW's placement in Chicago is, quite honestly, very bad. According to the self-reported spreadsheet we get that shows where students are working each summer, there were 3 students from the current 3L class in Chicago "biglaw" last summer. There were a few others at firms, but I'm not sure how big those firms are or what they do. The NLJ list is indicative, I think, of UW's placement. For 2010 grads, something like 12% went to those firms. I think it'll be even lower for 2011 grads.

See I'm not necessarily interested in Big Law. PI/Government work is more what I'm aiming for so I don't know how that affects possibilities.

Thanks for being brutally honest though. It's nice not having the school stringing you along with fudged statistics like every school does.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
