For my scholarship, requirement was to stay in the top 40% of the class. Pretty reasonable

The email says "The Law School's scholarship commitment for your second and third years is contingent upon your academic performance. You must maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the end of each spring semester."jwaters wrote:Congrats. Any mention of what you need to keep the scholarship? I've read on LSN that they can have some pretty strict requirements...like having to be top 1/3.Magnifique1908 wrote:Just missed my call about "good news". She said she was on her way out but would send me an email. Hopefully it includes scholarship info!
Edited to add.....Full Scholly! She even called me "most outstanding". May be standard acceptance email jargon but it sure made me feel good lol. I'm ecstatic that I'll definitely be going to a football school next year lol....I've got some great choices thus far!
It doesn't say anything about interviewing. I don't have the full package yet though, just the email. Does everyone here with a scholarship have to interview?eskimo wrote:Dang, and you don't have to interview? Lucky!Magnifique1908 wrote:Just missed my call about "good news". Interesting. I didn't get to speak to her. My email didn't say anything about ASD. Hopefully mine is paid for too because I will definitely attend. Did you guys get a date?jwaters wrote:The call I received didn't mention an interview. I imagine the scholarship that people have to interview for includes tuition plus COL stipend or something else significant rather than just full tuition.
I definitely plan on attending ASD, especially since its free. And from last years cycle on LSN I saw several people who went that got scholly increases immediately after attending, so there's that to think about to.
Not even close lol. Thanks for your help. Hope to meet you at the ASD!jwaters wrote:I forgot the date but she said all the information would be in the mailed packet. I'm sure your travel expenses will be paid for as well, unless you live like 10 minutes away from campus lol.
From what it looks like, people they're considering for the Dean's Scholarship do. It's full tuition + stipend. It's apparently an all day affair!Magnifique1908 wrote:It doesn't say anything about interviewing. I don't have the full package yet though, just the email. That's awesome though. I emailed her back acknowledging that I received her email and voicemail and she responded, even this late in the evening. Very impressive. Offered to send me flight options and pay for my hotel accommodations. I'm definitely going. Its January 21st.eskimo wrote:From what it looks like, people they're considering for the Dean's Scholarship do. It's full tuition + stipend. I received a huge packet in the mail on Monday, got excited and then realized it was a fee waiver, application and viewbook "encouraging" me to apply. I applied in October and was accepted yesterdayLSATmakesMeNeurotic wrote:I just received the "thank you for applying" email again. I got that over a month ago when my file went "complete."
Is this just a mistake on their part? Or did they forget that I applied over a month ago? Am I over thinking this? Probably. ha.
I, as well as a friend of mine, also received this this morning after being complete for some time. She callled and they said that there was a delayed email thing [I don't know tech nor did I actually speak to the rep] and that because it was sent late at night they were not able to control who got what. I'm pretty sure that everyone who has not been accepted received it.LSATmakesMeNeurotic wrote:I just received the "thank you for applying" email again. Just finished going through my inbox, and I got this email too. Around 2 am, shortly after the response from Dean Arrington I mentioned above which came in at midnight EST.alicrimson wrote:I, as well as a friend of mine, also received this this morning after being complete for some time. Congratulations!IAMGenius wrote:In with scholly! This is the best week since I started undergrad. It was one of my top 3 and the first reply I have received from any school. Feels good to get an acceptance before these denials roll in. LOL!
Are you from Alabama? How many out of state students in the general population?eskimo wrote:Congratulations!IAMGenius wrote:In with scholly! This is the best week since I started undergrad. Also, I forgot to mention - I'm an undergrad at Alabama so if anyone has any questions, I'm happy to answer them. I obviously don't know much about actual law school, but I can definitely field any about the city or university-wide stuff.
Thanks, and I am from Alabama, although I don't think that question was directed at me. I'm an undergrad at Auburn University so I don't know if I will ever scream "roll tide" but I'll definetly love the law school!!!Magnifique1908 wrote:Are you from Alabama? Nope, but I'm from another southern state. The entire university is about 33% out-of-state, but the law school is 85% in-state (last I heard, anyway - if that number is incorrect, then the correct one would be a lower % of in-state). Being an out-of-state student hasn't affected my time here at all, and I haven't ever been the odd one out. There are lots of students here from where I'm from, and from all over the country, too. The administration has really been pushing for increased OOS enrollment lately, so the number has increased a lot since I got here.Magnifique1908 wrote:Are you from Alabama? +1 Just got a call today. Very curious about this intervieweskimo wrote:Would love to hear any of this as well!vegenator wrote: Congrats to those also in and interviewing! Mpeterson, how did yours go? is it a long event? Casual? Who do you meet with? I'm full of questions as I was too shocked to ask anything relevant while on the phone and I haven't received a package in the mail / email yet.
