A splitter? Good luck getting a decision before May of 2013.

That being said, of the two southern schools everyone still seems to be waiting for, Tulane at least will talk to you on the phone. Bama has offered nothing in the way of any information at all.

Well it seems like the people who were accepted thus far are well above both medians, that being said, I highly doubt they are full to capacity yet, even of outstanding candidates that will probably have better offers.

Maybe, rather than just trickle out acceptances as they roll in, they're just going to mail out hundreds over the course of a week? The fact that they have remained dormant for so long though is scary to all of us, but like i said, I highly doubt they are done with acceptances yet.
I see what you mean. Looking at the graph on LSN, if you leave out the URMs and the two people with a 4.0 GPA, the graph left of the 166 LSAT mark is basically empty.

Speaking of which, does alabama even use their status checker? It's lovely to have my own alabama .edu e-mail address, but my application has remained dormant on their special status checker since it's been in their system.

On the board last year people wrote that their status checker changed to "decision made" and they had to either call or wait for a call, e-mail, or snail mail letter. Some people this year wrote that they are slow to update it and some people wrote that it is updated around the same time they are notified of the decision. So it's a toss up.

Sent in my scholarship negotiation letter earlier today. Hope to hear back soon so I can attend.

as far as acceptances, most people i've talked to got a call from the assistant dean of admissions, but maybe that's just scholarship students? i got a call and a VERY quick decision, but i'm in-state and have above their current median for LSAT (though low GPA). not sure why they're holding so many decisions. i have a few other schools doing that.

did anybody attend the ASD in january? what were your thoughts on the people? and how many people were there?

I hear the deposit deadline for UA is april 1st... Does this mean that they'll make their decisions by then?

I don't think this is necessarily the case, I think many schools make at least some decisions after the deposit date and give those students a different deposit date (like, if they accept you on April 2 they might give you until April 15 or so to deposit).

Just withdrew and freed up a spot and $24k/year.

This was honestly one of the hardest decisions I've had to make this cycle. You can't beat the low COL and tuition (and the outstanding scholarship offer), but the admissions office made the best impression of any office I've dealt with this cycle. They were so genuinely kind, helpful, and pleasant every time I spoke with them, and admitted students weekend was fantastic. I felt truly welcome there and I know I would have gotten a phenomenal educational experience if I attended, but it all came down to a better scholarship offer at a school where I feel I'd be equally happy (which also has a concentration I'm very interested in).

Best of luck to all of those still waiting, I hope one of you gets my spot/$$!

If you have no intention of going, and are sticking it out for a 15 dollar t shirt, just withdraw. Valuing a shirt over someone else's career and dreams is quite selfish.

Eh, us NorCal folk can have pretty skewed priorities in life. :P

I'm in it for the school. I already have like five Bama t-shirts because of my parents.

Honestly, I was joking. But I see what you're saying and respect it (and agree).

I actually received two t-shirts in the mail for some reason.

Anyway, the admitted students day on Friday was wonderful. I haven't decided on Alabama yet, but it certainly helped. The people were fantastic and the area was much nicer than expected having not been to Tuscaloosa before. I could definitely see myself there in the Fall. Need to see about scholarship stipulations though.

I was there on friday and I'm waitning on the scholarship stipulation changes too. I loved it and i really want to attend (my wife and i actually bought some cheap Bama shirts at the nike outlet we were so excited) but that top 40 requirement was pretty harsh. The guy who lead my tour said that one of his friends lost their scholarship after their first year. Hopefully they'll drop that requirement.

Submitted my deposit. Will be there in the Fall.

@Bergg, they seem to be pretty good at negotiating scholarships, they bumped up my monetary award and dropped the stipulation to top 50% when I sent Claude an email a while back.

How fast are they at responding? I want to send in my deposit after i have received a new scholarship and not before.

I'm getting antsy waiting for their response to my negotiation letter. I'm pretty set on 'Bama, but this wait is killing me.

Just withdrew so 28k/year and a seat are now open. I agree with everything kjadkins said, definitely the best admissions office I've dealt with.

withdrew as well. Hopefully it opens up a scholarship and a seat for you guys.

I'm sure anyone who ultimately attends this school will be very happy with their decision. I would have loved to go, but I just can't turn down some of my other offers.

Bergg, it took them about three weeks from the initial email about the scholarship till they changed it. Hopefully you will hear before the deadline, but I would be prepared to pay two deposits if I were you.

Welp they didn't do what I asked, they dropped the stipulation down to 50% and incresed my scholly to 22500 if non res and 16000 if resident. with 5000 guaranteed. I have decided to accept their offer. I'm going to bama next fall! just put down my deposit a couple of minutes ago! ROLL TIDE!! I'm pretty stoked.

I withdrew last night. It was an incredibly hard decision. Everybody has been amazing. When I visited, I got to speak with some faculty members and they were just incredible - brilliant, engaging, and invested in their students' success. For all those admitted - you're going to have a great experience. I hope my seat and my cash ($25k/yr) go to somebody who is waiting. Best of luck to you all.
