I'm fairly certain that those two people who just posted that they got in are URM's. If you look at the graphs of acceptances there is just no way someone that far below the medians got in. Especially when there are so many more people with higher numbers on the sidelines waiting.

I don't know if that's true. I know someone who isn't URM (is in-state though) that's below the median LSAT that got in today. She also submitted her app fairly late.

Not that I'm jealous.

They must be taking a lot of people today because a friend of mine also got in. High gpa (I think 3.9+), low LSAT, out-of-state, but goes to Alabama for UG.

I thought that too, but the first person posted that he was a white guy... so perhaps not!


I'm still pending, as are many of you. My sister's friend told me that she was called the week before registration (!) to be accepted. Since her other school was in Birmingham, she just withdrew from there and moved to Tuscaloosa. This process could go on all summer as people drop out.

URM= out of state white girl? Just because my LSAT is below their median doesn't mean that the rest of my app/resume was sub par.

I'm guessing they're adjusting their medians. They probably have the LSAT median about where they want it to be so they're trying to get reverse-splitters in the mix. Reverse-splitters are a bit more common that traditional splitters so it tends to be a buyer's marker, which is why schools like Alabama can wait until the end of the applicant cycle to admit these folks. For many schools who are interested in jockeying up the rankings, it's much better to be +4 LSAT / -.8 GPA or -4 LSAT / +.3 GPA, than it is to be -1 LSAT / -.1 GPA. The first two will help one median, while the last example will hurt both (even though the final example may have a higher overall index score)

Your GPA and LSAT are both below median. Her GPA is above median. Simple.
