Ugh, nevermind. Just found the answer to my question, and it's not pretty:

viewtopic.php?f=7&t=106700&start=225

Seems like most were eventually rejected in the upcoming weeks, with some making it to faculty review round 2. It doesn't seem like anyone was accepted without the review.

:(

FFFFFF

Just read that whole thread... looks like most who don't get in first faculty review end up being rejected later. I only saw like three or four people who went to FR2. CRAP. oh well. not that I didn't expect a rejection.

I don't know if that thread is very representative of what will happen to you all in CR or FR or whatever it is. Last cycle had a record number of applicants and therefore a ridiculously depressing waitlist situation at every school. For instance, at Duke Law they ended up admitting ZERO people from their waitlist last year and had a bit of overenrollment by the end of the cycle, in contrast to previous years where people did get in off the waitlist.

Anyways... keep believing!

Edit: totally misread your post and the rest of this thread, lol thought faculty review = waitlist, sorry. Good luck anyways!

SWEET! I got my admission packet today in the mail. Pretty basic stuff overall with a letter from Dean Tom congratulating you and a booklet about the school and its programs. Unfortunately, there was no mention of any money for me. Instead, there was a letter talking about their financial aid and scholarships which we can find out more info on with the students website. Is that normal or do they offer money in the initial packet?

That's normal. They're pretty stingy about merit money as well.

It seems unlikely that the situation is so grim, especially for people who only went complete in January. They are, technically, still accepting new applications. I know people hurt their odds by applying so late, but I'm skeptical of the gloom here. If people were already rejected, they'd already be rejected. Why wait to click send on the email? What reason is there to believe that there are no applications that the dean of admissions hasn't gotten to yet?

@flips88: same boat, went UR 1/10 with no FR and have not gotten a ding yet. However, I did notice on LSN that they rejected one guy who was also UR 1/10...he had fairly low stats tho so could have been Dean Tom's AR. I also notice that they tend to reject people later in the week i.e. thurs or fri and admit people monday or tuesday. Hoping I get a phone call monday :?

I looked over last year's cycle for Berkeley and it was evident that people who applied late put themselves at a huge disadvantage for admissions -- I didn't see many acceptances at all for January completes. (I'm a January complete this cycle, btw...)

But then again, I would hope that most schools are being a bit more cautious about admitting a lot of people early since the December LSAT scores were released so so late this year. I don't know if comparing to previous cycles is useful in that sense...

Well to be fair, I submitted my app on 11/27, but I retook the LSAT in December. I know in Dean Tom's interview he stressed getting it in early even if you are retaking. So hopefully they see that I submitted early pending a second score. I also wrote a 4 page Berkeley specific PS. Time will tell I guess.

It's also important to remember that there's a selection bias here: we're only able to see TLS/LSN submitters, who are probably not representative of the whole pool and who might skew toward early applications.

I wouldn't be too too grim about January applicants. I sent in my application on 1/7 (after receiving my Dec. LSAT score) and was accepted on 1/19. I don't think I'm quite an auto-admit, though--my GPA is around the median, and my 2nd LSAT is above the 75th. But I submitted the same 2-page personal statement that I sent to all schools, without tailoring it at all to Boalt, and allegedly that's a no-no.

So my point is, even though Dean Tom says in interviews that late applicants are disadvantaged, I think that if your application is strong, you'll still be fine.

This is basically my story except my dates are a week later.

So is there a difference between committee review and faculty review? and Do they each happen multiple times each admission cycle?

So basically, since I've had no change since UR 11/1 (not a typo), I'm just waiting for a ding now?

+1, but in that case, I wish I would have been dinged with everyone else. Hopefully we will get in CR 2, but I don't know, it's doubtful.

I think I'm gonna just mark it as a rejection and move on. If I get notified it will be fun.

I don't think so. It's called being sent to the "Faculty Admissions Committee," so I think it's just how people shorten it. Some say Faculty review, others say committee...could be wrong though. And yeah, it at least happened last year.

It's all the same thing. The committee consists of faculty and students.

You'll get into CR 2nd round.

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I haven't seen an answer so. I've also gotten the email and made it to faculty committee review, is it worth sending a LOCI if I initially only did a general personal statement or should I let my application be?

Well, I decided to finally throw my hat into the ring here. I know it is especially late and Dean Tom likes early applicants, but this is one of the couple of schools I regretted not applying to previously. Let's hope he like my app so I don't have to go to CR. Woo!
