Yes, you were attacking FSU by throwing out this vague, blanket statement about seeing what the admissions office does. I object to ignorant advice in all forms, so I merely pointed it out. Also, I believe you have no idea how to properly use there, their, and they're.Trinity11 wrote:Forgive me for my typos, Mr. 3.0 GPA. No need to get freakin' defensive, jesus. Was I attacking FSU? 1. FSU and UF do not give URM boosts (at least, this is what is boasted about them)
2. Come on guys, everyone messes up the their/there/they're sometimes while typing fast. I edit papers for a living and have blown over it a few times before.
3. Trinity, I don't think the *MEN* are lashing out, but rather correcting a faulty assumption on your part. FSU and UF students will be very similar in regards to their capability to perform in law school, and going to one school or the other would likely have minimal effect on your rank as compared to your intelligence vs. that of your peers. I think it is much more likely that other factors in choosing a school, such as how comfortable you are in the atmosphere, maybe the peer pressure of partying, etc etc etc would have a much more dramatic effect on one's class ranking.

I think number 3 should be the main factor when deciding between these two schools. Should always be the primary response.Barbie wrote:1. FSU and UF do not give URM boosts (at least, this is what is boasted about them)

Interesting how you don't point out Heat's 166. What did you receive? LSAT greedy? Did you receive any scholarships? You comment before even asking about softs. Faulty assumption (most likely). I know my GPA is laughable but I ended up winning the highest academic award at my undergrad institution. Carried a 4.0 through my last 48 credits. My senior thesis was nominated for an award that covers the whole state uni. system of New York as well. My recommendations are from two professors who studied only at ivy league schools, one of whom I t.a.'d under.Trinity11 wrote:Forgive me for my typos, Mr. 3.0 GPA. I have no intention of bringing about a URM debate, I was just pointing out that FSU and UF do not give these boosts. The graphs on LSN support this. There are many URMs with quite decent numbers for the school who got rejected.

Re: FSU c/o2014 Applicants!
Read Prof. Alex Johnson's, of UVA, studies on the LSAT. A lecture of his on the topic can also be seen on UVA Law's youtube channel. They're really not that many URMs applying as to hurt your chances. On average only 3400 African Americans start as 1L's yearly. Those worried about 3400 black kids are digging for excuses. Most blacks will end up attending a T3 T4 due to the offers and the fact that roughly on average only 30% of those 3400 have over a 153.Trinity11 wrote:That's what I feel, alicrimson. I'm not here to debate URMs either. I was just happy and wanted to meet other ppl that are happy to be attending. If she is so smitten with UF why is she even on this thread? It's not like she's offering any evidenced advice.

Last.chance, as per your original intention in posting on TLS: I'm incredibly excited to attend FSU Law. I know a few 1Ls there now and love hearing about their year so far. It's a good place to be. Congrats.

Trinity, I too am curious as to what you saw that disgusted you about the admissions office on campus. If nothing more than just curiosity on my part, as I love juicy info.Trinity11 wrote:Forgive me for my typos, Mr. 3.0 GPA. No need to get freakin' defensive, jesus. Was I attacking FSU? And also, LMAO @ calling out FeelTheHeat for not having balls. He's a pretty ballsy dude in real life, and maybe he is just that much smarter than you, even with his GPA.

I only got accepted this past Friday so no way I could have attended last Saturday. Congrats Barbie!
Saw some of the pics, the place looks a lot better than snow slush we had this winter in nyc.
I'm going to the one on March 23rd. Anyone else?
