I have seen a lot of people have success getting books at a reduced price via half.com or other online textbook outlets. I haven't ordered mine yet, just for the simple fact that I'd probably end up trying to read them, and then start regretting every minute of this.

I would likely not do this. haha. I spent most of UG not doing assinged readings, I dont see myself jumping the gun into one of the most stressful years of my life.

you save some money on some books- but have to pay more for others. So its a wash, and depending on the seller you may be waiting for 4-14 business days

when you go on your my pitt- click on student center, then my personalizations, then go to enrollment then go to my weekly schedule- then click on the my weekly schedule tab. Near the top you will see a view textbook summary link. Click on that and if the professor has posted books you can see them.

I would highly recommend half.com if you're trying to save money.

I bought all of my books new from the bookstore and amazon last fall and spent a ridiculous amount of money. for the spring, i bought all of them used on half.com and spent 1/4 the price and they were in really good condition for used books. if you look at the review of the book, they have a rating system for how used they are, from a few pages highlighted to torn up pages. the reviews were really accurate.

Quick question for any current students still involved with the forum. Do law students get a separate id card stating that they are law students (used for access to the law library or other relevant places) or is the general student id one gets from Panther Central sufficient for this? Thanks.

No worries man! As a Pittsburgh-er already I can help you out if you need anything! Also, the city is really not that bad to get around in and is pretty welcoming IMO.

I've only gone twice but it get them from giant eagle. The first time I went to the one that's on wharton and the second time to the ellsworth one and I would recommend the one on wharton. It's in a nicer area and it's bigger

I prefer Giant Eagle b/c of their Advantage Card. Everytime you spend $50 on groceries you get 10 cents off per gallon at GetGo, the Giant Eagle affiliated gas stations. GetGo is all over Pittsburgh so it's really convenient. Plus, I don't drive often so the 10 cents tends to accumulate into $1 or more, which is awesome when I'm driving 6 hours back home. There are other perks to the advantage card but I only use it for gas. I realize that I sound like a walking advertisement, but there ya go. Downside: you have to go on off hours unless you want to deal with horrendous crowds.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
