I am wondering if I should change my ED to RD...I may get a decision quicker and being that I am already in at a peer school would give me more leverage in terms of $$$ negotiation?...also would give me a chance to accept at a REACH school?

I really still want to go to Pittsburgh and it is my top choice for several reasons but I am wondering if it would be a better overall decision to change from ED to RD...and how do ya'll think that would or wouldn't affect my application?

If you know Pitt is your top choice the only disadvantage to ED is that you have no chance for $$$.
How are your numbers? Did the peer school offer you some bucks?

it may negatively affect your application- but if you are not 110% positive that you want to pay full sticker at PITT then you should withdraw your ED.

Changing from ED to RD is a sure way to be waitlisted or rejected.

Then again, I don't understand why you ED'd to Pitt in the first place. Unless, that is, you plan on staying in/around the 'Burgh for the rest of your life.

Real reason? They have a top 5-10 Philosophy department and I am doing a joint degree program where I will be able to take a decent amount of classes in/with their philosophy department and in the end I want a JD/PhD...and yes I have applied for a couple joint JD/PhD programs.

All I can say is Robert Brandom+John McDowell!

I have been in contact with Allie a lot throughout this process so I wonder if I sent her an email asking her if I would actually get a response sooner if I was RD instead of ED if that would mitigate some of the possible negative affects.

Our philosophy program is awesome, but that won't help you get a legal job--unless, perhaps, you want to go into academia?

I have a certain career path plan, yes.

I have a professor friend of mine who holds a PhD and a JD and actually practices at a University in their general council office AND teaches 3 philosophy classes a year and that sounds very appealing to me.

And, yes, your philosophy department is badass...and it just so happens that some of the best members of the department studied with my advisor.

You guys are being too hard on yourselves. Less selective schools like Pitt are not nearly as median sensitive. LSN shows non-URM acceptances as low as 158/3.22 and 159/2.9.

Just going off LSAC's predictor (55%)

LSAC's predictor is worthless.

You're at 75% for GPA and above 25% for LSAT. You're in, and pending scholarships at peer schools, you could negotiate a scholarship too.

I wonder how easy it is to barter for some scholarship...I mean if you get into some peer schools or even happen to get into a higher ranked school that should only help the process of bartering...unless you're an ED candidate like me.
