just got my admissions letter in the mail, says i'm on the "scholarship waitlist"
i have $75k from wustl...i would consider pitt but it would take a full ride (i'm in-state) i think, but that may be a tough negotiation from $0

Especially since their max is $14,000 per year except in extreme cases. Regardless, you're probably not going to get them to match $75,000 from WUSTL.fatduck wrote:just got my admissions letter in the mail, says i'm on the "scholarship waitlist"

Re: Pittsburgh 2011
Most people I know who asked for money got it. I wasn't offered any money but levied my scholarship from Case Western to get 10k. Just express a serious intent to attend the university (maybe a LOCI but might not even be necessary).northwood wrote:does anyone know how willing pitt is to negotiate? I am out of state, and would go there in a second if i could get in state money- but im trying to figure out how i should go about doing this?

Thats what I was hoping for... but they usually seem to start updating the statuses at 10:30 AM and continue all day... and seeing as nobody has posted anything, it's not looking promising. It'll be the first time in a few weeks that they haven't put out another round... not cool!bport hopeful wrote:Another round of decisions today?

I got a 12k scholarship to go to Pitt and it is likely that I will attend next year. Do you think its worth it, or even possible, to try and negotiate it up to 14k? i know 14 is pretty much the ceiling on their schollys. Just wondering if you guys think they will give me a little more $ if i express more interest in the school.

Re: Pittsburgh 2011
you can try but you won't hear about more money til after first deposits are due. i had submitted the optional questionnaire to try to get some diversity scholarship money before i got my letter saying that i got 14K. i talked to pitt's financial aid office yesterday and was told that they have no more funding so won't be able to tell me anything about money until after first deposits are submitted (i'm guessing this is bc then they can see if those who got money are going to go or not).yabuddy wrote:I got a 12k scholarship to go to Pitt and it is likely that I will attend next year. Pittsburgh is really impressive! They just sent out a letter saying they will cover the cost of the hotel room the night before ASD. Wish I could go!

I got it too, checked if the Penguins were home that day, saw they weren't, and was a little bit sad.
Mine came on a little card in a smaller than normal envelope. I didn't really look at it too long to be honest.

I know I applied late in the game and that's kind of exactly what's worrying me. I applied to Pitt on 1/20 and received the status checker e-mail on 1/21. I am not in review yet or even complete according to the status checker. When should I really try to contact them to make sure everything is okay with my app? It always goes to voicemail when I call...

I applied much earlier than you and have heard bubkus so far, just the "application is complete" email. I have been under review since Jan 20th. Its one of the very few schools that I check my actual mailbox hourly for.HOPEFORCHANGE wrote:I know I applied late in the game and that's kind of exactly what's worrying me. Yeah, according to that, never. You would have to literally defer your acceptance for a year, move to Pittsburgh right now, and then start in 2012. That's the only way unless I am reading something wrong.
