Why Mich? Why?

I assume if you got the e-mail (and I did) that they think we're okay but not great - we're still under consideration, but we're not first in line for acceptance, so they're warning us of the wait.

11/07, 12/09 here and did not receive the email (yet?). What does this mean? I am afraid to check my mail now.

12/15 here (11/18 submission) w no email. I think it's based on dates, not quality.

I find it interesting to hear that Michigan does it's rejections via snail mail rather than email. I actually prefer the email rejections and snail mail acceptances model. At least you can just approach your mailbox with anxious excitement rather than anxious excitement/dread.

EDIT: To clarify, the same "hold"ish email everyone else here got today. Anyone know if they did this last year and outcomes? Could be that we'll end up a mixed bag of results...

Agreed. I'd much rather receive bad news via email and good news via post. Email seems a lot less personal.

You are missing that some people submitting later than you have been admitted? (I think that's what I read in the previous pages)

You are missing that some people submitting later than you have been admitted? (I think that's what I read in the previous pages)

No I'm not missing that at all...see the bold.

I submitted a Why Mich with my application in late October. However, I decided that, seeing as how my chances are growing slimmer by the day, why not write a LOCI? So I did. Perhaps it was a poor choice and written too hastily, but it's done sent now. Figured I'd beat the rush of LOCI's that is likely to follow that email.

I read it as a hold e-mail. From the number of these that they sent I think they are doing a pre-waitlist to see who sends in additional materials.
