YPing is actually worse at Michigan than UVA, sadly enough. See im_blue's analysis of yield protection here:
http://www.top-law-schools.com/archives ... =2&t=96231.

My earlier comment was pointing out that so far in this cycle it seems like no one with a 175+ LSAT has been accepted to Michigan so far except for Harvard level candidates. This theory falls apart if someone here on TLS has gotten in with a 175 or up but not Harvard level stats- has anyone accomplished this?
IN AT GEORGETOWN. Michigan get make confetti out of my app now
I would trade you an acceptance at Michigan for my Georgetown one any day, but I am hoping for both.

Please let me in Dean Z!
May I ask why you prefer U Michigan?

Michigan generally has a better reputation within the profession (as evidenced by its ranking and general prestige). I also really like the vibe of the law school and would prefer to be in a ~350 person class instead of a ~600 person class.

Also, personal bias against DC right now. I have lived here for 8 years and am ready to leave.

Marginally better career prospects are still better career prospects, and the career prospects for what I want to do are much better. Michigan was my number 1 over V+P because of the summer start, student scholarship workshop, and because I absolutely love the law quad.

I visited Michigan twice for undergrad (once before deciding where to apply to college, and once after the accepted me for undergrad).
Freezing cold in March and April.
But, Ann Arbor is a great town

Jealous. I've never even been in Michigan before. Or in the Midwest at all, for that matter...just the coasts.

Winters don't look too bad. I mean, judging from this:

Compared to home:

i drove somewhere along the lines of 17 hours just to go visit michigan, and it was AMAZING in the summer...just another reason why i ED'd, for the summer start.

haha but i'm from the south, i'm used to barely freezing weather in the winter and steaming hot summers. if i get in, im going to have to buy a LOT more sweaters

The worst part about this week is that I actually have to work, which means I don't get to obsessively check my email or stare at my phone in deep, tender longing. :(

Haha! Fair enough. I guess work is a blessing in disguise.

I think TLS has increased my law school application obsession tenfold. Like, probably beyond what is socially acceptable/healthy.

AH! Just received an email from admissions saying that they have closely reviewed my materials and wanted to follow up on a small matter (I quit my job about a half year ago, mostly due to the low salary combined with high cost-of-living) and they want to know what I have been doing since then.

The thing is...I have really not been doing anything special.
Once moving back closer to home, other than completing the LSAT, I've been saving up through a (very) non-distinguished part-time job in the service industry, and plan on doing so until going to whatever law school will accept me next fall.

They said an email response is completely sufficient. I am pretty bummed I have nothing special to show for all this time

Edited to add I submitted the second week of November, RD

it's only six months, just say you've been working to save as much money as possible. at least you've been working. focus on the saving money part. they're probably just trying to make sure you're not rotting away on your parents' couch.

Don't worry! I listed "Service Specialist" as my current job on the resume I sent them, and they let me in even though I've been bagging groceries for the past couple months. You should be fine haha.

Thanks cortnf and Soda Mixer.

While I don't have stellar numbers to offer Michigan I can at the very least confirm I haven't made a permanent dent in my parents' couch or wallet....yet. Hee.

I hope they find this reassuring and reason enough to say, okay cool COME ON OVER! : p

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
