Just be happy to have a status checker. Those of us who were accepted in December had to spend our time trying to scry out acceptance status via the addition of options to PAWS.

Anyone know how hard it is to qualify for in-state residency? I know for some schools, as long you stay in the state for a year and get a driver's license for that state, you're good. Is LSU one of those schools, or do they make it hard?
I want to go to LSU, but I don't feel confident enough that I will stay in the top 33% to keep my scholarship.

If you aren't in Louisiana at least 12 months prior to the first day of class you are going to have a difficult time establishing residency, I think. I went to undergrad in Louisiana at a public University, and just about every public school in Louisiana has the same standards for establishing residency. Out of all my OOS friends, I know of none who established residency.

You can check out the details here though:

Hope this helps.

I RSVPd as well. I know Saturday morning starts at 9, but I'm OOS and was thinking about checking out Baton Rouge's bar scene Friday night after the cocktail reception; and, let's face it, drinking may prove to be an important part of law school for some of us. It also may be cool to get to know some people we'll potentially be going to school with for three years before we start in August. Anyone else interested, or is anyone from BR and know some good spots to grab a drink?

I grew up closer to New Orleans, so I'm not terribly familiar with Baton Rouge, but I'm game. I'll be without my husband that weekend, so I'll be a fish out of water.

I'm staying with a friend that weekend; I'll see if she knows any places.

if you're looking for a crowd, Freds has weekly free drinks from 8-10 that is very popular amongst the 21+ crowd. The Bulldog and Chimes are good places with lots of beer on tap and fewer undergrad students will be there. Bogie's is also pretty popular and tailors to a fraternity type crowd. The law school regularly holds events there on the weekends.

Hope that info helps.

I RSVP'ed for the 11th and 12th as well, and would love to hang out with everyone after the reception.

What should a girl wear to the reception? standard business cas, or is it different? I am confused by the word "cocktail" in the invite..... Thoughts?

I'll probably wear this gray dress I have. It's not overly fancy, just something I wear to work. Nice enough for an office, but not so nice that if people are wearing khakis, I will feel out of place, you know?

I'm either wearing a gray or black & white dress. Knee length, 3/4 sleeves. Not too dressy, but still putting in a little effort.

Fine, guess I will have to completely rethink my ensemble for that evening.

Just got an acceptance email. Nice to have in my back pocket. I was getting worried I'd have to wait a good while, because there won't be any movement happening for most of the rest of this week and next with Mardi Gras I'd imagine.

Received mine today. 14,080 a year with top 33% stipulation. I will probably check it out on accepted students day
