Waitlisted... It seems like they don't believe in rejections and would rather leave everyone one in semi-limbo... I'd much rather be denied than be one of 400 on wl

I was thinking more in terms of when we will receive decisions

We don't know that, either. Based on last year I would have been lucky to hear by the second week of February. Received my decision yesterday. Some people should have heard in December; they didn't hear until yesterday, either. So some decisions are early, some are late, and there's no real way to predict.

I hope you corrected those for other apps. If you have not, update ASAP.

lol I just found out I sent the absolutely generic version of my PS (the one I do all the personalization from). So no surprise...

Damn, son!! Wonder if this would be worth talking to someone in admissions about, if you are going to hang around on the WL. Like submit a LOCI/Why Chicago and also explain the mistake and ask if you can replace your PS at the same time?

While I like the laziness it accommodates, the results have not been encouraging. The only schools I have been admitted to are the ones with PS that I personalized the hell out of.

I updated my Berkeley PS and got in so I now see the importance. I will probably write a LOCI this weekend. My PS is missing the Chicago touch, so a LOCI would work. I already just updated my transcript this week.

Out of my six acceptances so far, only 1 (Duke) had a personalized PS. FWIW.

Dinged last night around 5:30pm. Was on a self requested ban so I couldn't post :P Was my highest reach so no big shock, and kind of feels good to have the first ding.

Same here - but this is a huge reach for me, so I'm not expecting anything too exciting.

FWIW, I submitted the same PS to all the schools to which I applied, and it seems as though they haven't minded?

I used the same PS for almost all of them. I'd throw in "after three years in Streeterville" or "after three years in the Research Triangle." For Columbia, Harvard and Chicago, I threw in a mention of hoping for the oppurtunity to "stand on the proverbial shoulders of such giants of American intellect as [their notable alumni]" too.

So basically, I used the same cookie cutter PSs with a little creativity on the frosting.

Initially I didn't think living in Chicago was an option, but I recently changed my mind. Chicago is a reach for me anyways (170/3.67), so do you think applying at this point looks lazy/late and is a completely lost cause, or is it worth a shot?

Chicago is a huge reach with those numbers. Even if you applied in September. I wouldn't bother now.

I'm pretty sure you're below both medians (not positive though because I'm not *currently* staring at the USNWR rankings) so it would be a long shot. But then again, I'm 2 pts below the 25th LSAT and I still got a waitlist. Chicago has been surprisingly holistic this year, at least in my case (unless they like really high GPAs......) If you have a spare hundred bucks, go for it!

Otherwise, wait til next yr and ED it

You're right - Chicago's medians were 171/3.78. I wouldn't even think AT both medians is necessarily safe, since their median LSAT dropped from the year before. I don't know if they're making a conscious effort to get it back up to 172.
