Yea wow so many of us above both 75th in the WL bunch... No WE? Retake? Could that have been it?

3 years pretty solid work experience but I did retake - high 160s -> mid 170s

Waitlist prospects? Slim to none? I don't know if this has been addressed anywhere else but I'm seeing people with waaay (no, waaaaaaay) higher numbers than mine rocking the waitlist so I just don't see it happening for me, essay or no essay.

Congrats to everyone who got in and also to those happy about their WLs!

I'm in the same boat! UR 12/23, 12/27, and now 1/7. Is no news good news? haha

This was in NO WAY how I expected my day to go -- I expected it the other way around, or maybe even a Michigan acceptance given my PS...I can't help but wonder if my PS was judged in a very personally negative way and it freaks me out. OTOH, I fell in love with U of Chicago completely when I visited it, so please, everyone on the waitlist, WITHDRAW YOUR APP. I am longing to sit in that building again. I figure I'll never get off the waitlist, but...but...oh, the dream. I even have a "Why Chicago?" all written from before I found out Chicago didn't like those, so I never sent it. With a few minor tweaks and edits, I can keep the dream alive.

I will say that even a Chicago acceptance (due to their crappy LRAP) would be hard to think about if I was able to get full tuition somewhere, but Illinois only gave me 3/4 and I have no way to know what the increases would be (and it doesn't scale with the increases). I've lived in crappy enough circumstances that being able to go for free would be highly appealing and Chicago is a bit scary.
