Waitlisted. Bummed on this one. Went in with Chicago as my first choice, but my other options at this point preclude an epic waitlist-wait-it-out. I can't deal with not knowing where I'm going to school until July.

Will probably withdraw, but I don't have the heart to do it just yet.

. Write a LOCI explaining that it's your top choice and don't give up hope! I know that Chi is interested in students who want to go to Chicago.

Aw. That's so encouraging and nice. Thanks Knock. Maybe I will; I just need to give myself a day to let my spirits recoup. At least with Chicago LOCI (as opposed to H LOCI) my heart would be in it.

There's been 2 major rounds I think so far, at least.

I'm really sorry to hear it everyone! Is there anyone out there with decision pending or an acceptance? I feel like this last batch was to protect from over-enrollment.
I know I sound bitter, but it just sounds like bad planning and lack of foresight on their part....... Nothing against UChi itself, I still think it's a great institution, but what the heck is the admissions committee doing? There are clearly many well-qualified applicants who were not accepted today.

Ding.

173/3.7X

Wasn't expecting this. Maybe a WL, but not a straight up rejection. Oh well, I was more interested in NYU/Columbia anyway.

I guess they really didn't like my essay...

This was mentioned in the Admitted thread, but last year they over-enrolled. I agree that many well-qualified people were not accepted today, but I don't agree that it's a result of poor planning. I think poor planning would be another class with over 200 students. If there's any lesson in this it's the importance of early applications. At this point in the cycle all schools are turning down great candidates, but they seem to also be late applicants. It's just the nature of rolling admissions.

Anyway, best of luck with your cycle.
Well, I also think that good planning would have also entailed reserving a certain # of acceptances for each of the 3 rounds of decisions, which Chicago clearly did not do (unless we TLSers constitute a highly skewed sample). Granted, it's not a large sample, but I haven't seen the same issue with the other schools that I have applied to, so I think Chicago's admissions committee did not plan this out very well.

Best of luck to you too! (Assuming your cycle is not over)

I missed a call from the U of C today (I'm already on the WL) and they didn't leave a message. I'm an alum, and I know it couldn't POSSIBLY be admissions... but if I get another call tomorrow and it's someone asking me for money they are going to get an earful.

:( Ouch... It seems that UVA, Duke, and GULC YP'ed you because they assumed you would be auto admitted to CCN and possibly HS.

I would be surprised if you couldn't get off the waitlist at most of those schools, though.

Does this conclude UChicago RD admissions?

I think so. Until we see (if any) waitlist movement.
I think there are still some people who haven't heard back, so I would say it's not quit over yet.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
