Just because PS + LOR's are never sufficient to admit an applicant below the numbers range doesn't mean they aren't necessary for applicants with numbers above the 75th. Never discount the PS and related softs.

Has this become a PT and Non-PT thread? I haven't seen a Non-PT thread only.

Hey! I didn't want to make a new thread for this, but I wanted to remind everyone to either create or update their LSN/Admissions Dean profiles. It's a little break from checking status checkers obsessively, and it's easier to get all the dates correct now rather than going back at the end and trying to remember. LSN has been such an immense help to me (and I'm sure all of you, as well) so I'd like to make sure we're giving the next cycles our useful information.

Also, if you're concerned about privacy (I am!) you can keep your information private while the cycle is ongoing. I am keeping my profile on "hidden" throughout the cycle but updating it regularly, then once I've made final decisions, I'll open it up.

Anddd, I'm posting this in all the waiting threads, so don't get annoyed if you see it more than once. :D

Are you trolling/spamming every thread? I have seen this everywhere. I feel micromanaged.

Trust me...I get it. However, you could have been having carnal relations with a monkey and my brain still would have gone numb from reading the same thing 3+ times.

Am I the only person to have been rejected? This early in the cycle it's primarily in/on reserve, right? Especially as I was priority track?

3.9x/170 rejection email today for what it's worth. maybe it's being an ORM lol
Not gonna lie, pretty disappointed especially as with my numbers I felt the worst that could happen would be put on reserve/wl.

Damn, that really sucks. Sorry to hear it :(

I've been under review since Wednesday, and I'm a lot more nervous after reading your post. Was this your first decision?
Regardless, good luck on the rest of your cycle! With those numbers you'll get into some great schools.

I'm in with Priority Track and 171/3.80ish and I didn't write a Why Duke essay. The turnaround was pretty quick, maybe a week. Good luck to everyone.

:( i don't think my lsat is high enough for it to be yield protecting. with the new 2010 #'s i'm at median for lsat and just a bit above 75th for GPA...
but my why duke was a little hasty, pbb would've been better to write nothing at all? :/ just super alarmed because i'm the only outright rejection this early. i feel it's personal. so now i'm picking apart my app.
in at gtown only atm, but am having a bit of a later cycle than you gunners so that makes some sense. i've been complete at uva since mid oct though so i'm officially neurotic and am retaking lsat in dec :( if i can't even get into duke with a 170...

If you didn't spend much time on the Why Duke, probably shouldn't have written one at all.

In! I found out last Thursday after having submitted last Sunday, but totally forgot to post here lol-- It's great to have that first acceptance out of the way!

Oh and numbers are 3.87/174-- I did write a Why Duke statement but it was relatively generic IMO and looking back at it I can't imagine it really helped much

Same here. I would love to hear someone's input on this.
There have been plenty of people here who got in w/o writing a Why Duke (even those w/ obvious YP #s). If you don't have anything to write, I wouldn't write it.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
