look at UCLA's tuition estimate - somewhere from 51,000 to 53,000 dollars (for non-residents and 10K less for residents) per year ...that's just tuition/fees/book supplies, not even living costs. and with the UC system having their funds cut, who knows how their tuitions will change in the future. at least they gave you a fee waiver so you didnt have to waste anything more than 12 dollars on sending the app.

Can't they let me in? Or maybe they just don't think I would be willing to pay any tuition.

I got in but no scholarship . I'd actually be very interested in UCLA given enough $, so it's kind of disappointing.r6_philly wrote:They want to make sure we really want in. No $$? What? What are they doing over there, with the tuition slated to skyrocket no less.Knock wrote: I got in but no scholarship . I'd actually be very interested in UCLA given enough $, so it's kind of disappointing.

+1. Though Dean Schwartz sounded like he'd offer me $$ because of my Illinois offer depending on my need applications.r6_philly wrote:No $$? What? I'm not sure, but I may try and have them match my Michigan scholarship later on down the cycle, we'll see.r6_philly wrote:No $$? What? Waitlisted. Damn. I was really excited about the school. Anyone have any idea of how hard it is to get off the waitlist, how to go about it, and liklihood of money if you're accepted off wl

All this nonsense does not make me very optimistic about my cycle.r6_philly wrote:Good luck and get that $$$$ cuz you may need it.Arbiter213 wrote:+1. Re: UCLA? 2011
yeah but if they didn't send me a fee waiver i wouldn't have wasted my $12 and if they had given me a full ride it would have become tempting since i'm in the greater LA area i could have commuted and it would have become practically free...rs2004 wrote: look at UCLA's tuition estimate - somewhere from 51,000 to 53,000 dollars (for non-residents and 10K less for residents) per year ...that's just tuition/fees/book supplies, not even living costs. and with the UC system having their funds cut, who knows how their tuitions will change in the future. at least they gave you a fee waiver so you didnt have to waste anything more than 12 dollars on sending the app.

I've been in since October with no scholarship offer. Does that mean there won't be any money offered? Because I might have to withdraw soon if that's the case. Sticker is just way too high a price for me to pay.

Joining the wait here as well. Gotta love UCLA's 'black box' approach to the whole application process. I think I actually prefer it to the schools with the b/s status updates that don't really tell you anything. Submitted 12/20, complete 1/4.
Really hoping I get to go back to LA... >.< .x,,

Also, can UC schools afford to give out scholarships this year? The state is basically bankrupt, after all...

UCLA probably has more scholarship money this year as part of the tuition increase.bigjinjapan wrote:Also, can UC schools afford to give out scholarships this year? The state is basically bankrupt, after all...

Re: UCLA? 2011
I do not think that is the case. The tuition increase is going toward running the almost bankrupt University of California system.Hannibal wrote:UCLA probably has more scholarship money this year as part of the tuition increase.bigjinjapan wrote:Also, can UC schools afford to give out scholarships this year?
