sorry dude. your gpa is solid--is your lsat mid 160s? usc is still possible. ucla seems to have much higher standards, and is only a few slots up in the rankings.Lasers wrote:got rejection email.

yeah, my LSAT score (163) was low for ucla, so i'm not shocked.justadude55 wrote:sorry dude. your gpa is solid--is your lsat mid 160s? usc is still possible. ucla seems to have much higher standards, and is only a few slots up in the rankings.Lasers wrote:got rejection email.

hopefully a 3.75 and 163 might allow me to squeeze in at usc, though those chances seem fairly slim as well.
retake + reapplication next cycle might be in order...sigh.

I got my acceptance call from the dean on Saturday. This was my reach school so I'm stoked right now.

Dean Schwartz was so nice on the phone. He grew up near my hometown, so we talked about our favorite local pizza place. Real bonding time. I can't wait to visit UCLA - I've never been to the West Coast.

Hahaha- thin crust, deep dish, it's all delicious. LA better have some good pizza or I'll be super sad. (I'm pretty sure I'm actually lactose intolerant, but that hasn't affected my cheese intake at all. And it never will.)pinkzeppelin wrote:

Has anyone heard anything about money, besides people who heard about it with their initial acceptance?

I also want to know about this. I'm tempted to start negotiating now that I have 2x T14 acceptances in the bag.Knock wrote:Has anyone heard anything about money, besides people who heard about it with their initial acceptance?

Re: UCLA? 2011
Where are you from if you don't mind me asking (at least the state)? I ask because I feel like you can always find awesome pizza around here (NJ/NY area). I would go so far as to say that it's better than a lot of the pizza I had straight in Italy (which makes sense because I don't really like any of the pizza styles in northern Italy) and there's a huge history of southern Italian immigration around here. I will say though, nothing in the WORLD is as good a real napoletana pizza. Honestly, if I had the option to have a financially stable career and live in Naples (and somehow not fear for my life from all the unbelievable crime levels), I would give up full rides to all of YHS in a heartbeat.deepdishpizza wrote:Hahaha- thin crust, deep dish, it's all delicious. Get some $$ from UCLA then take it back to the T14 for some money there!Arbiter213 wrote:I also want to know about this. Re: UCLA? 2011
I'm all for taking ucla money to get money from t14, but perhaps you should hold off on negotiating with ucla until you have money from places like Texas, vandy, wustl, USC, uiuc on the table. Just a thought. Does anyone know when it's ok to start negotiating? I was thinking around feb / march since most scholarships should be awarded by then, right?r6_philly wrote:Get some $$ from UCLA then take it back to the T14 for some money there!Arbiter213 wrote:I also want to know about this. I'd like to maximize leverage, but don't want to wait too into the cycle...

I'd wait until you get a final financial aid offer is made. Some schools only offer merit or need aid, some offer a mixture of both. So it comes down to out of pocket COA when it comes to negotiating. If you can show that your actual COA is lower at a peer school you can use that as leverage. Just be mindful of COL differences.vegenator wrote: I'm all for taking ucla money to get money from t14, but perhaps you should hold off on negotiating with ucla until you have money from places like Texas, vandy, wustl, USC, uiuc on the table.
