I can't imagine them turning you down. Good luck!
Why UCLA? You probably would have gotten into at least a couple from Chicago through Duke and potentially Berkeley according to LSP, though that would be a reach.

Re: UCLA? 2011
Thanks.
I like UCLA for a variety of reasons including location, within a few hours of my family and my wife's family, and the Law and Philosophy Program. I had a less then successful cycle last year after taking the December LSAT and applying late. I am ready to be finished with law school applications, so hopefully I can get in at UCLA early and call it a day.

I am considering sending an application that way. If I do, I will send one to USC too. Good luck!

Re: UCLA? 2011
Woohoo - thinking of EDing to UCLA as well. 3.86/167
retaking Oct LSAT to see what happens - I PT anywhere from 164-172 but UCLA takes the highest and I figure I'll swing for the fences and if I get the same or lower I still have time to get my ED in (putting in several other apps in the next couple of weeks).
Anyway good luck and maybe see you in Westwood next fall!

I went to UCLA undergrad and absolutely love the campus. You can't beat the weather and the neighborhood!
If you are looking to be in LA, check out USC. If you don't get UCLA ED, USC is pretty sweet. The neighborhood is eh, and the law building itself is a bit old, but the campus is really nice, and the program there is both supportive and excellent. I got to chat with the dean of admissions for an hour there and they seem like they've got a good thing going on.

Re: UCLA? 2011
Checking in! I am not sure whether to ED or not. I have a 3.98 LSAC GPA with a lot of fantastic softs (including combat experience via the US Army) and I am PT'ing between 164-169. Once the Oct. scores come in, if it's anywhere in the 166~ range, I'll ED. If not, RD I go. I'd have to give up Berkeley, which is my dream school and one I had targeted letters directed toward, but the Epstein program @ UCLA is intriguing too, and I don't want to get shut out of the T20.

Re: UCLA? 2011
Even with 166 I think you should have other options in T20, I don't really think you would be shut out. You may also be able to get in a scholar program somewhere if your softs are really outstanding, so doing ED may preclude that. Well I guess good luck on the test and see how it turns out!Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Checking in! I am not sure whether to ED or not. What do you guys think my chances are (3.82/165) if I ED?

My guess is about 50/50 accept or waitlist. If I remember correctly you, like me, were waitlisted at UCLA last year. Hopefully things shake out better for us this time.msch0i wrote:What do you guys think my chances are (3.82/165) if I ED?

Ugghh this bums me out I was planning on applying after the Dec lsat. Do you think the main issue was applying that late in the cycle?

Re: UCLA? 2011
If you read the TLS Dean interview with Dean Schwartz, he states that you should apply when you feel most prepared and that submitting late won't severely affect your chances. UCLA doesn't operate on a strictly rolling basis (see last year's thread - applicants in Oct. got decisions through April/May, I believe...), but you should submit as soon as you can.FlanAl wrote:Ugghh this bums me out I was planning on applying after the Dec lsat. Is there a status checker? Do you get an email when you are complete? How do you get the decision? I don't recall hearing back after submitting.

There is no status checker, unless its a new thing. I got an email from UCLA about two weeks ago saying that applications will start going complete in a couple weeks. So, any day now. They said we will get an email when complete. Last year decisions were accept via phone call, deny via mail, and waitlist via email.r6_philly wrote:Is there a status checker? Thanks! I found the email as well, they sent it to the email on file with LSAC instead of the one on the application. It's been two weeks for me, hopefully they will be reviewing soon.adamdroog wrote:There is no status checker, unless its a new thing. I will be joining you guys on this thread after the October scores come out. I was a WL---> Accept last year (with some money), but decided to put off law school for a year. Applied 2 days before the deadline and was below the LSAT median.
Outside of the T6, UCLA is my top choice (yes, even more than the rest of the T14).

If you got in, why don't you reapply now instead of waiting for your new score?

Re: UCLA? 2011
Well, I can't entirely be sure that I wouldn't go straight to the WL again if I reapplied with my current score. Also, I want to maximize my scholarship/money prospects. I'd rather wait until I have the strongest application package I can possibly put together before sending off my applications, and I think November is still relatively early in the cycle.r6_philly wrote:Good luck!Cromartie wrote:I will be joining you guys on this thread after the October scores come out. I already have a pretty good addendum for my multiple LSAT scores, which of course only becomes relevant if I actually perform as I expect to on this retake.
